“T-Taylor.” I stutter as she barges inside, pushing me out of the way.
“Where is he?” She asks, looking around frantically.
“What's going on?” River emerges from the bedroom, a sheet around his waist. “Shit!” He curses as he sees her, clutching the material tightly.
He tries to retreat but Taylor sends him a glare, making him stop for a second.
“I can't believe it!” She yells, folding her arms.
“Taylor...” I reach out to touch her hand but she flinches and backs away.
“Don't you fucking touch me!” She says, verging on hysteria. “How long?” She looks at me and then at River. Then back again.
“It's not important.” I sigh, standing next to him and smoothing my hand down his back.
“Why don't you go put some pants on?” I whisper to River, motioning to his lower half.
He nods hurriedly and closes the bedroom door behind him.
“We need to talk.” I begin, gesturing towards the couch.
She hesitates before sitting down. Taylor opens her mouth to speak but I cut her off.
“I know you're mad, Taylor. I know you want to kill me right now but it just happened, okay?”
“What, you just happened to jump into bed with another man?” She scoffs, looking away.
“No, it wasn't like that. I mean, it sort of was but...” I sigh. “I'm sorry.”
“And here's me thinking that you cheated on me with another woman.” I see tears well up in her eyes and I put my hand on her knee. She stands up abruptly and scowls at me.
“Would it have changed anything? I still cheated on you.” I say, glancing up at her.
She doesn't seem to hear me or she ignores the question because she says, “all those late nights and those suspicious looks between the two of you. You were sleeping with him all along and you made me believe that you were straight! I-I can't do this...”
“I'm sorry, okay? I didn't want this to happen either but it did! I'm sorry.” I repeat, swallowing hard. She looks at me, her mascara running down her face.
“I would have preferred it if you were seeing another woman.” She spits bitterly.
“Why did you come here?” I ask, trying to control my anger. She has no right to judge me on whom I sleep with.
“I-I...” She stutters, unable to answer.
“You came here knowing that River would be here. What was the last thing you said to me? Oh, yeah, that you knew about us. You came here to make a scene.” I say tersely.
“But I finally know don't I? I know that you were fucking him behind my back.”
“But aren't you over that?!” I yell. “You slept with so many guys behind my back so don't you dare try and act innocent. Do you honestly believe that that didn't hurt me? You are a fucking whore, Taylor. Don't act like you're better than me.”
She looks taken aback but she regains her composure, a mean look in her eyes.
“At least I'm not a fucking homo.” She snarls.
“Get out.” I demand calmly.
Before she can retort, River comes out of the bedroom fully clothed and steps forward, placing a hand on my back. His touch calms me down for a second and he locks his gaze onto Taylor.
