Her Protectors

Chapter 10

Gray: It's time to get out of here. 

       I have no idea how long we've been in "the darkness" but it was definitely getting to me. I don't know why but I always hated the dark. It felt like something was always lurking in the shadows, waiting for me to let me guard down. Waiting to take me and swallow me up. I felt a wet slobber on my hand and looked down to see wolf looking at me and whimpering. I'm sorry wolf, I just hate the darkness. I guess you could say I'm afraid of the dark. But you being here has helped me, thank you. I scratched behind his ear showing my thanks. I started to continue walking in the dark with wolf by my side hoping that we would see something. Some sort of sign or anything but it was like a never ending dark abyss that kept swallowing us whole every where we turned. I just wanted to stop and give up but I couldn't I had to get us out of here. 

         I sat down and started to think when all of a sudden my body started to heat up. It felt like I was burning from the inside and I couldn't breathe. I let out a ear deafening scream and fell to the ground. I tried my best to take deep breaths but if felt like the more breaths I took the harder it was for me to breathe. My body started to crumble on the floor and I clutched my chest with my hand while I looked at wolf with tears threatening to spill from eyes. I saw him whimpering and pacing back and forth when he walked up to me and started to lick my face. Then all of a sudden he backed up and just when my eyes were about to shut I saw him transform into a man before blacking out and once again being taken into darkness. 

      My eyes snapped open and I slowly got up from the ground into a sitting position. I looked around me and again was met with darkness. 'Ugh, not again.' Hey wolf, wolf where'd you go? I waited for a few seconds waiting for wolf to come out but nothing. 

"Hello Gray" 

I turned around but nothing was there. Great I'm going crazy now. 

"Gray you're not going crazy. I am you and you are me. I am here to help you little Gray."

 Who are you?

 "Who and what I am is not important right now. what is important is that we get you out of here before the darkness gets you." 

How do I get out of here.

"Gray there is an energy in you that you must let come forth. It's been locked away but you must unleash it." 

How do I do that?

"You need to focus all of your energy. Hone on to it and let it flow through your every being." 

How do I know I can trust you? 

"Like I said before Gray I am you and you are me."

Oh, okay, so like me conscience. 

"Gray you must hurry, the longer you stay here the more danger you are in the real world." 

Wait, so you're saying I'm stuck in my mind? What about the wolf? 

"That brown wolf is real. He too is stuck and once you release your power you will be able to save him too. Now sit down and focus Gray."

I sat down and listening to the voices instruction and closed my eyes to focus. I waited for a few minutes but nothing happened. I peeked open one eye to see maybe something happened but nope, nothing.
