Who Am I? (Book 1)

Chapter 10

"Chris! Tash! Will!" Julia called out for them and knocked on the door yet again since the boy had slammed it in our face. "Who's those guys?" I asked her as we waited for someone to answer the door. "Old friends of mine, hopefully, one of them can travel with you". Another boy opened the door, he had half-long dark brown hair and blue eyes. He seemed to be around Julia's age, a little older than me and very tall, at least 1.90 cm. "Man, why yell so much? And ... who's that?" He had this playful and curious twinkle in his eyes. And he seemed very cheerful and a bit goofy, while Julia was stern and focused. "I'll explain later, let us in". He seemed to understand how serious the situation was but still, he grinned in a goofy way. "Will you give me a kiss on the cheek first?" Even though she didn't really smile I could see her the tiniest hint of one. "Dream on". There was definitely some chemistry there but still. "Right, guys! We've got some guests". He still had that playful look in his eyes. The younger boy was still terrified of me, blabbing about how I would kill them all and such ... "I'm William by the way". He extended his hand and I shook it. "Julie ..." I tried to smile, but I don't think it looked very convincing. "That's Daniel, he's ... a bit anxious about the shadows and such". Daniel looked a lot like a younger William, so they were probably related. "Just take a seat and I will get the others". 

"You think they will help me?" I asked with a lowered voice, cause I didn't want to offend anyone. "Yeah, they're good friends. Our families have always been close. When my parents ... was taken, I and my siblings leaned on them for support and comfort". They sounded like wonderful friends ... and maybe there was something more between William and Julia. "So ... are you interested in William?" I tried to give her a playful look, but ... yeah, I don't know if it looked sincere. But I needed to think of something else than my doom, even if it was only for a brief moment. "Will?" She seemed thoughtful for a second before she chuckled a little. "I don't think he would be the right one for me. Will tends to be a bit flirty, and I prefer someone who's a little more committed. But, I suppose he might have a chance once he gets more mature". 

Right after she finished Will came down with two girls. Both were taller and older than me, maybe around 17 or 19. "Let me introduce you. This is Natasha and Christa". Natasha had long blond hair and sapphire blue eyes that somehow seemed very familiar. Christa too had sapphire blue eyes, but her's didn't seem as familiar. She also had very blond hair, almost to the point of being silver-like. Both were friendly and polite, and I almost wanted to reach out for Natasha ... "So, my love, what do you need from us?" Will goofily grinned at Julia but this time she was dead serious. "I need someone to travel with Julie". Everyone turned to look at me and I felt a bit embarrassed. 

"I don't think I'm up for the task, my squad needs me. I'm with the scouts, we make sure that the valley can't be ambushed by enemies". Christa seemed a bit apologetic, maybe she felt like she let Julia down by saying no. "I get it, scouting is a very important aspect of our security". Will was about to say something when Natasha interrupted him. "I'll gladly go with her. Then you can try to convince Julia to date you without us interrupting, right Will?" She gave him a cheerful smile and Will was blushing quite a lot while looking at the floor. And in the corner of my eye, I could see Julia blush as well. "Right, Tash, Julie, please follow me. I'll give you some equipment".
