The Fog Forest did indeed live up to its name. Luckily for us, the fog wasn't too dense, so we could see each other. "Be on guard and have your main weapon ready". Tash had already drawn her sword and seemed to be on the lookout for enemies. "Why? Isn't the sun up at the moment?" I probably sounded like an idiot or something, this wasn't a stroll to the beach, after all, everyone probably expected me to be all serious and stuff ... but they were in for a disappointment. I wasn't the grumpy loner anymore, I had changed quite a lot in a short amount of time. "In the Fog Forest, it doesn't matter if it's day or night. The fog allows demons and other evil creatures to wander freely without any pain". I gulped ... because my history when it came to demons were not ... great at all. She seemed to be calm but on guard when she suddenly stumbled a little, seemingly being in pain. "They found us! Run!"
"How do you know?! I was running faster than ever. "The wolf-beasts are on their way and the demons are not too far behind either! I can feel the burning pain in my leg". She didn't let the pain slow her down though, but I could see that she was in pain. I could see it in her eyes. "How do you know that the demons are chasing us as well?" I was praying that it was just a hunch of hers. "They are always near the beasts unless it's too bright". Great ... my hope had just been crushed ... and I was exhausted while the howling came closer and closer. Then, suddenly the ground beneath my feet disappeared and I fell into an abyss of darkness. "Tash!" I screamed as I couldn't see shit due to the darkness. "Be quiet". Suddenly the tunnel was lit up as Tash lit a lantern. "I made this cave, but they can still find us. We have to pray that none of our attackers masters earth magic". Tash walked in front of us and extended the tunnel as we walked forward.
After being in the tunnel for what felt like forever Tash stopped and said we had to resurface. "It's approximately 250 meters until the passage, but no magic is allowed this close to the mountain". We cautiously walked out of the tunnel, the sunlight stung my eyes as they re-adjusted to the bright light. "Why isn't magic allowed near the mountain?" I asked and paid no mind to my surroundings, which is probably how I die but still ... curiosity killed the cat, you know. "Julie, I have always loved how curious you are ... but I also often find it amusing how your question timing is horrible". She chuckled a little while keeping an eye out for enemies. "Excuse me, it's not my fault I'm ... uh ... like that!" I was planning on sounding a bit offended, but after getting a quick kiss from Tash everything was forgotten and forgiven.
So sorry for being slow when it comes to publishing chapters. I have been busy with school, but I also do admit that I have been a lazy bum :P At the same time, I am working on another book (so far 14 chapters done) as well as a very exciting project with a friend of mine. I will try to publish more often since the situation we are in is quite ... special.
