The first few hours of school are painful - nothing new there - but I wait desperately for break, trying not to let my brain drift like it usually does. The bell shrieks, making everyone in Maths jump out of their skin. There's a scramble as everyone throws their books into the box on the desk in front of me, not caring that I have to duck from some of the lower aims. But eventually I'm in the crush out of the main building, along with every other kid in this dump.
"ALBA!" Someone shouts my name and I make the mistake of turning around to find them. I'm almost instantly knocked into and dragged down the corridor. I sense the stairs and panic, fighting the current of kids and going back towards the Maths corridor where I can just about see Chase and his stunning ginger hair - seriously, he's not REAL ginger, he's like fire - walking towards me.
"Hey Chase." I grin up at his 6'5 and he tries not to snicker.
"Hey dwarf." He bursts out laughing as we make our way down the stairs now the crush is over - much to my relief - and we can go however fast we want.
"You laugh, but I'm just the right height to do this." I say evilly.
"Do what?" Chase asks dumbly and I roll my eyes as I elbow him square in the stomach.
"You really walk into these things, don't you Chase?" I struggle not to lose it and laugh my ass off at the look of shocked pain under his hundreds of freckles.
"Aye ... a should ... have seen ... that coming." He pants as he tries to straighten up slowly; I giggle and Chase gives me the devilish look I hate. I know exactly what he's doing when he stands in front of me and picks me off the floor by my waist. He chucks me easily over his shoulder and walks as awkwardly as possible just to make my stomach as sore as his, which isn't likely considering I'm a freak of nature and he's just like every other testosterone-fuelled guy at my school.
"Chase, can I ask when you're letting me down?" I cough as I smack my nose into his spine. "Ow." I mutter as it clicks and Chase takes me into the canteen. Everything's upside down and it's starting to make my head hurt, which means I'm more likely to end up broadcasting to the were-web what I'm thinking.
Get the hell out of my head! I think intensely, just in case I'm an open book for my family.
"Nope." Chase walks through the canteen and I feel my shirt starting to move.
"Wait, Chase!" I cry as I try to grab the bottom of my blouse and cover the scars that I'm covered with. I don't need the social getting called in on my family.
"Nope, no dice Alba." Chase chuckles as he jigs me and I spot someone as I'm clinging onto my shirt and I groan. "Wha- oooh!" Chase follows my line of sight and spots the Irish guy surrounded by a gaggle of girls. "D'you like the new guy?" Chase laughs at his fail of an Irish accent and I feel the blood gushing into my head.
"No, I don't. He touched me!" My voice sounds strangled and my eyes feel like they're about to explode.
"Wow, first day and he's already felt you up!" Chase snorts as he walks over to Colin.
"Seriously Chase?" I mutter as he pushes through the squealing girls and pretty much drops me on the Irish freaks lap.
"Oomph!" I choke as I thud onto Colin's lap painfully.
"Well hallo." He smirks, his eyes bright. I shudder and roll rather gracelessly onto the floor, much to Chase's amusement.
"You make the mistake of thinking things are below me..." I mutter as I crawl on my hands and knees towards Chase as he tries to escape me. He glances back, not thinking of searching the floor and grins when he can't see me. I keep going, pushing my way through peoples knees, determined to scare Chase to death.
