The Next Day

"My love?" I yelp out of my sleep seeing Maria on top of me. "Wakey Wakeyy."
I sit up in a bit of fear. "M-Morning."
"Morning my love! My love, why am I sensing fear from you?"
My heart skipped a beat hearing her asking that as I gulp.
"Don't be afraid of me love, I promise if you allow me to I'll take really good care of you just like a wife would. Okay?" she says with a daring smile.
I nod.

She gets up from on top of me and puts a tray with pancakes and eggs on my lap.

"I got you breakfast in bed my love. And it's your favorite."
"Th-Thanks Maria," I say and start eating.
"I'll be off to work now my love. Behave yourself until I get back because I have a surprise for you when I do~"

I watch as she leaves the house as I continue eating and look around the house. I glance at the camera in the corner of the room.
"Goddammit..this crazy woman has a camera in the room. I finish eating and go to the kitchen which is not far from the room to put the tray on the counter. I then feel my phone vibrating as I head to the bathroom and look to see no cameras before I take my phone out answering the call.

"Hello?"
"Honey? What's going on? Why is the house on sale? Where are you?"
"H-Hon. Th-There's a crazy woman that trapped me in her house-she she she killed my co-worker because she thought her and I were a thing and-I-"
"Kurako! Calm down, what happened?"
"This woman I met at a bar has been stalking me ever since and now I'm stuck in her house-baby she's fucking crazy..!"
"Why were you at a bar? I thought you said you were gonna stop drinking."
"I know hon but that's not important right now. Listen to me, I want you to stay far away from me as possible and call the police. This woman is really dangerous and I don't want her to hurt you."
"I really hope you're not fucking with me dear.."
"I promise you honey even if I was, I wouldn't go this far. Now do it please."
"What street should I send them?"
I look out the window and see the street sign. "Caldwin Street."
"Okay honey, please be careful."
"You too. I'll see you soon."
"I love you."
"I love you more."

I hang up and go back to the bedroom as I wait. About 30 minutes later, I hear sirens as I look to see three police cars roaming around the street. I hurry to the front door and wave so they could see me. The police drive over to where I am and then exit their car. I told them the whole story and they investigated the house as I follow.

They realize the cameras and I told them she puts them up to watch if I'll escape.

"Do you have her contact number?" One of them ask.
"I don't think so?" I check my phone contacts and to my surprise see her number. "Huh? But I didn't...Did I?" I thought.
"Sir?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah I...have her number right here."
"Call her and get her here." he says and I obey.

I dial her number and immediately she answers.

"Hi my love!"
"M-Maria heyy, can you come home? Like right now?"
"What is it my love?"
"You'll see just come home, please."
"Okay my love!"

"Wife?" One of them asked.
"No. She just call me that forcing a relationship between us. Even threatened my life when I denied it."
"Ah."

After about a 15 minutes wait, she finally came home and smiles seeing the policemen.

"Oh, good morning officers. How may you help you today?"
"Good morning ma'am," a bit confused they continue. "We got a report about you entrapping this man in your house after stalking him, and also killing a woman that's his co-worker."
Her expression then saddens as she tears up. "My love, I told you to stop drinking because of your mental illness."
"Drinking? Sir you have been drinking?"
"I-I haven't for the past week I-"

Before I could continue, one of the officers take out a breathalyzer telling me to blow inside of it. I blow into it and they look at the results at it was 52mg which shows the word "WARN." My eyes widen.

Their eyes were on me now. "Those cameras were set to watch him in case he does anything dangerous because of the crazy things he does when he drinks." Maria added.

"Sir, you're under arrest-"
"No No No officers! Don't arrest him please, it's okay I'll take good care of him just like a wife would. Promise."
I was speechless, I could do or say anything. The policemen looks at her then says, "Okay ma'am, but call before things escalates with him. And sir, stop drinking! You're so lucky to have a wife like her so stop treating her like that."

The police then left as Maria waves them goodbye. She then close the door and look over at me as I got over clouded with fear. Oh no...Is this where I die...?

She smiles slowly approaching me as I back up to the wall breathing shakily. She then gets closer and closer to me as she gives me a hug. "Oh my love, you didn't think you'd drive me away from you by calling the cops on me did you? Silly Kurako~ You never wanted me away from you, am I right~?"
"Y-Yes.." I answered feeling the tip of her knife on my back.
"I love you so much my love."
"I-I love you too..."
