i watched as laiya get shot.
kio opened fire on her, and immediately after, danny opened fire on kio. it made everyone jump. laiya fell to the ground, and so did kio.
everything started to move in slow motion.
blood everywhere. i looked up danny, who dropped the gun, and ran over to laiya. he was crying uncontrollably. elle went to the corner, and sat down. gabi was trying to help laiya, her hands over the on the wound. she looked around for anything. i tried to sit up, but just screamed out in pain. i had to remind myself that i had been unconscious after kio stabbed me and i was still incredibly fragile.
she looked dead. all i saw when i looked at her was me a few hours ago. i started crying. i couldnt lose laiya.
kio had shot her in the shoulder. i tried shaking her, but nothing would help. i moved her onto her side, and her arm fell onto the floor.
it went limp.
laiya was dead.
elle stopped crying. gabi sat back. danny ran up the stairs.
"is she dead?" elle asked, her eyes shut.
noone said anything.
"i think so." gabi said quietly. elle ran up the stairs, leading to dannys room.

• dannys pov •
i ran up the stairs. into my room. the first thing i saw was laiyas clothes on my bed, from when she changing into her pajamas.
i walked over to the bed and picked them up. they smelt like laiya, vanilla and something i never knew the name of. i sat on the bed and started crying. i hated crying. it made me feel vulnerable, and weak. now i know its normal, especially after that night. elle emerged from the bunker.
she looked like she was going to faint. she walked over to the bed, and did exactly that. she fell into my arms. i held her, stroking her hair until she gained consciousness.
we had just lost quite possibly the most important person in our lives.
we lay there, on the bed, silent, crying, for god knows how long. it was the most painful god knows how long in my entire life.
suddenly, the bunker door swung open, and cleo and gabi came out. cleo was clearly struggling. she collapsed onto the bed, and gabi came out, crying.
"kios dad-" she panted, before standing up on the window ledge, and smashing the window with her fist. i sprung up and caught her before she jumped out the window.
"GABI WHAT THE FUCK?" i shouted at her.
"WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?" i shouted.
"KIOS DAD KILLED MY PARENTS" she was crying out into the darkness. gabi had no neighbours to wake up.
i pulled her back in, and i heard a car pull up.
elle and cleo tended to gabi, while i looked out the window.
police.
i started crying out into the night. it was barely night now.
then,
a ring at the door.
