Laurie walked slowly through the hallways not caring if anyone saw her skipping and somehow nobody did. She was hoping a good ol' smoke will help rid her of this headache but because that's not how the world works she doubted it.
She pushed open the swinging doors that led to the outdoor seating area and oval but quickly turned right to get behind the gym to where all the dropouts and potheads smoked. Sure enough there was Julia in her tye-dye sweater and spinning an unlit ciggie between her fingers.
"Hey I've got a better idea than hanging with this lot." Laurie said as she approached Julia. Julia didn't even turn to look at her but instead just nodded and pushed off the wall ready to head off to whatever Laurie had in store for her.
"My place is just on the other side of those trees there so we can sit on the roof and smoke but still be able to hear the siren when it goes off." Laurie explains as they slowly walk across the school oval and through the small wooded area.

Laurie's house was very homey. She had explained that it was just her, her folks, her little brother and their dog Bucky. Julia had laughed at the marvel reference and they made their way around the back of the house to climb up the ladder to the roof. Stopping on the way to pat the gorgeous husky of course.

Once atop the roof they finally lit the ciggie Julia had been rolling across her fingers and shared it between the two of them.
"So why'd yu do it?" Julia asked looking away into the trees blocking their view of the school.
"Do what?" Laurie answers as she took a drag and handed the smoke back to Julia.
Julia was silent for a moment before saying: "Fuckin' get blackout drunk on a school night." 
Laurie sighed and rubbed her palms into her closed eyes, a anxious habit.
"My folks were fighting and I couldn't be bothered sticking around to hear that shit." Laurie said clearly as she took her hands away from her eyes. She had always believed that if you were to open up to someone you have to do it with confidence. And Julia just felt like she was the sort of person who could level with you and understand.
"Fair enough." Was all she said though as she took another drag.
"I heard you and Kate in the kitchen the s'morning. Are you adopted or what. Not to be rude of course." Laurie said softly in case this was a tender subject.
Julia breathed out a mouthful of smoke before saying; "You really shouldn't drink at this age, it could kill yu."
"And you shouldn't smoke, but here we are. Now I shared with you so come on." Laurie said as she took the cigarette out of Julia's freckled hand and smoked it.
"My mums dead." Was all Julia said before she pulled her backpack off her back and opened it up.
"Now I don't know 'bout you but sharing my feeling alway makes me wanna vandalise something."
"Dude we just had a bonding moment and now your ruining it with your crappy habits!" Laurie laughed before stomping out her ciggie and throwing it in the gutter.
"Let's go than."

After the girls had been walking for a bit they found themselves in the slightly upper class part of Cypress Bay.
"Hey dude I've got an idea." Laurie said before taking a spray can from Julia's bag.
"Safety first my dude." Julia laughed as she hands Laurie a bandanna.
'Oh no your upper class neighbourhood has writing on it :('
Was soon sprayed in green across a bland white wall that overlooked the main road.
Laurie smiled and Julia quickly pulled out her phone to snap a quick pick, scribbling out Laurie's face she uploaded it too her Snapchat story with the caption 'oops'.
The two girls walked on just talking, they were way into second period but didn't care, they would be back by recess and anyways they were only like a blocks away.
They were just sitting on some swings in a playground when Laurie's phone buzzed.

Hermione Granger reincarnated:  where are you guys, I thought we had gym together?

Laurie:yeah we do but me and Julia slipped to have a smoke,,,,,,

Hermione Granger reincarnated: oh ok. Hey are we actually gonna start a band?

Laurie: that's the plan
