The three girls walked through the shallows just embracing the sounds of the ocean.
"Hey, so I've got this mate Jayden and her mum owns The Bangers club in Catcher street." Julia said as she ran her toes through the damp sand.
"Do you reckon they'll let us play a gig?" Kate asked as she peered over Laurie's shoulder at the dark storm clouds that were heading their way.
"That's what I was thinking about." Julia murmured.
"Hey so I was scrolling through Yorkshire's Facebook page and there's this local band playing there. Wanna go check it out?" Laurie asked from her spot crouching down in the sand.
"Let's go than, got nothing better to do." Julia laughed. So the three got up and made their way to the Ute, where Julia once again hotwires it and the girls head off.•
Surprisingly they weren't even asked for ID when trying to get in.
"Bloody hell this place must be a real shit hole. Just letting kids walk through the front door." Kate laughed as they sat down close the the stage.
"Maybe it's cause the playing bands kids too!" Laurie laughed as she pointed to the group of boys setting up on the stage.
"Nice ass!" Julia yells at one of the boys who were closer to the stage, resulting in her getting pinched on the arm by Kate. Laurie just chuckles and leans back in her chair.
They open with an original track which was pretty good but than they start playing a Justin Bieber song.
"I retract my former statement, your ass is as flat as your taste in music!" Julia screeches from her seat while Laurie laughs her ass off.
"You think you could do better!?" The boy who was singing lead asked. Laurie smirked.
"Fuck yeah we could!" So the three girls stood and climbed onto the stage. The boys handed them what they needed. Soon enough they were playing the start to Comfortably numb by Pink Floyd.
And once again the absolute passion and talent was evident from the way they played.Kate looked more comfortable this time around, her shoulders were relaxed and her foot was tapping along to the beat.
Julia had a absolute shit eating grin plastered on her face as she looked at the boys who were standing gobsmacked to the side of the stage.
Laurie stood in front of the microphone and sang like it was all she knew. The girls were one and the people were loving it.After their song was finished they took a sly and sarcastic bow than handed back the instruments.
"Bloody hell you girls were good." The boys drummer said to Julia as she handed back his sticks.
"Your accents cute, where's it from?" She asked slyly.
"Liverpool." He chuckled as Julia pretty much turned to the other two and did a bit of a silent scream before she joined them at their previous seats.
"They might suck ass but by god they're cute." Laurie laughed.
"Is that all you guys think about?" Kate rolled her eyes at Laurie who was leaning back in her seat trying to get a look at their solo guitarists ass.
"Ladies I think I am in love!" Julia sighed.
"With him or the fact that he's from Liverpool?" Kate replied smugly.
Laurie laughed and Julia even let out a chuckle at how snarky Kate could be.
The boys played a few more songs before they finished their set and packed up.
"Alright ladies I am going in!" Laurie said as she walked up to the solo guitarist.
"Wait what's she doing?" Kate whisper laughed into Julia's ear.
"Trying to get his number I think."
"You not gonna get your Liverpudlian lovers number?" Kate smiled.
"Nah, I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of these guys anyway!" Julia hummed as Laurie waltzed back over to them.
"By the way your walking I am guessing it went well?" Kate laughed as the girls stood up. Laurie didn't answer but instead just winked.•
After the girls got back to Dusty's they decided to have a bit of a snoop in his garage.
"Fucking hell this is one epic garage!" Laurie laughed. "If I had of known he had this I would've run away ages ago!"
"Technically we didn't run away though!" Kate laughed as she picked up and inspected one of the many guitars that was hanging from the wall.
"Nah that's right we drove away." Julia laughed from behind a set of drums. "Dusty's got good taste in drums!"
The girls laughed as Julia tapped out a basic pattern with her hands.
"There are sticks over there J." Kate laughed as she tuned a bass she had found.
"Wanna give them a go?" Laurie said as she pulled the strap of a guitar around her shoulder.
Kate nodded and Julia spun the sticks across her fingers.
After the girls had decided on basket case by Green Day Julia tapped her sticks together and they started on the song.By the time Dusty made his way into the garage they had played enough songs for a whole set.
"Bloody hell I leave for a few hours and you lot take over Lenny's!" Dusty laughs as he pulls up the garage door from the outside.
"Is that what that place was called!" Kate laughs as she puts her bass back on the wall.
"One of me mates was there and he sent me a video." Dusty said as he showed the girls the clip.
"God we're good at this!" Julia laughed.
"You really are, have any of you ever thought about writing your own songs?" Dusty asked as Laurie and Julia put away their stuff.
"I've written a bit of poetry but never songs." Kate answered.
"I've written bits and pieces but never whole songs." Julia said.
"Hey can I borrow your lighter?" Julia asked as she put a smoke between her lips.
"Don't let minors smoke here." Dusty murmured as he pulled the ciggie from between her lips. "You lot should give it a go. I've got a mate, Leon who used to write songs for our band back in the day. He lives up in the blue house over that way. You should go talk to him about it."
The girls nodded and Dusty just told them he would yell for them when dinner was ready.
"Hey why's Dusty live out here, he looks like he should still be in school?" Kate asked as they walked up the makeshift road that winded through the houses.
"Yeah he should still be in year twelve." Laurie said as she handed Julia a lighter.
"Ah thank the gods!" Julia smiled.
"So whys he not in school anymore?" She asked lighting her smoke.
"He got heavily into drugs last year and the folks said that if he didn't pull his shit together than he had to leave, but it looks like leaving helped him anyways." Laurie finished as they made their way up to the door.
Julia brought her hand up to the fly wire and knocked. She had to knock again before Leon managed to come open it. Just smelling him you could tell he was either hungover or still pissed.
"Looks like he didn't pull his shit together though!" Julia whispered to Kate as Laurie wakes up to the guy.
"M'not buying anything." He mumbled and leant on the door.
"Nah mate I am Laurie, Dusty's sister. He said you could help us with song writing." She said as Kate and Julia stepped closer to the door.
"Oh yeah, heard you were in town. Come on in." He said finally seeming to wake up a bit. He opened the door and the three girls made their way into the dimly lit house.
"So you lot make music?" He mumbled as he pushed some cans off the leather couch so the girls could sit down. They all nods to various degrees.
"Alright, what sorta sound do you have?" He asked lighting a smoke.
"Well were going for a bit of a throwback theme. Yu know like all the greats." Laurie said as she learnt back on the couch. He sat forward and waved his hands around asking for examples.
"You know, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Queen, The Beatles even a little Green Day!" Julia said as she tapped her smoke onto the coffee table.
"What's your name kid?" Leon asked as Julia just sat back into the old couch.
"Julia and that's Kate." She answered pointing to Kate who sat silently next to her. Leon nodded and sat back in his seat.
"And your bands the one that took over at Lenny's today, what's it called?"
"The Misfits." Laurie said.
"Yeah well yu Bloody look like Misfits. The first thing you've gotta do is find a solid look, than come to me about your sound." Leon said as he breathed out smoke rings and flopped back into his torn lazy boy.
"Right. Thanks." Julia murmured as the three stood up.
"And hey, I heard you playing earlier, you've got spunk keep going like that and you might just make it." Laurie nodded and they left the house.
"Well let's go find a 'look' than!" Kate mumbles, the first thing she'd said since they got there.
