Kate sat in the shower just letting the water flood down on her. She was sure that The Misfits were going places, she could be going places. She was probably the only one of them that was completely sure of what she wanted: and that was to make music and live life.
Being around Julia and Laurie had really brought her out of her shell and she liked it out here. She stood from her spot on the bathroom floor and turned off the taps. She was going to tell her parents exactly what she wanted to do.

The conversation with Kate's parents was far from smooth and sleek like their previous family debates. Kate was an only child and this was not what her parents expected of their kin, especially not one who was as bright and refined as Kate had been growing up. Kate tried to tell her parents how making music was not easy and the fact that the girls could do it so well meant they were smart and that they had a chance, but her parents just turned away from her and sent her to her room with only a disappointed glance and the words; first detention and now a band, next she'll say she's gay!
This was Kate's tipping point, she stormed into her room, slamming her door in the process. She was going to be a musician and that was the last of it, she didn't care if she was throwing away her parents trust or respect because this is what she wanted to do.

Kate sat in the tire swing outside her house with her phone in hand. She had just been told that she was actually the last girl to give the say-so, and that made her feel safe in her decision like she wasn't alone in this fight against being told what she was supposed to do.
She brought up her messages and opened their group chat.

The Misfits
Laur-sauc... & misspell

Kate: I called him.

Laur-sauce: So did I, he said it would be good for us.

Misspell: than why do you all sound like sorry asses, we've got something not many other people have, we've got a chance.

Kate:Yeah and in taking that chance I think I've completely ruined my relationship with my parents, they can't even look at me:

Laur-sauce: At least your folks are there to look at you, my dad bounced as soon as I came back with his truck

Kate: Is he coming back?

Laur-sauce: fuck no he's not coming back, he took all his shit and didn't even bother looking back at us.

Misspell: Shit dude you alright.

Laur-sauce: yeah. I just think I need to sleep.

Kate:ok well I think I am going for a walk.

Misspell: and I am going to get pissed, hell maybe even laid, I am a rockstar now.

Kate: Just don't get pregnant, that wouldn't be a good way to start our career.

Laur-sauce is offline
Kate is offline

Misspell: yeah well no promises, no one would even care if I did anyroad.

Misspell is offline

At least one of them did what they said they were gonna do. And I'll leave it to you to guess which one.
