The French ministry

We walked very quickly through the streets. My legs were getting tired but I could tell something exiting was about to happen and didn't want to miss out. We finally stopped in a tunnel before Newt finally explained everything.

"The box is in the Ancestral Records room, so it's three floors down," Newt retrieved a small bottle from his coat.

"Is that Polyjuice?" Tina asked slightly concerned.

"It's just enough to get me inside," Newt tipped his head up and drank the liquid. Within moments he was shaking. Then his face changed. "Who?" Tina looked confused.

"It's my brother Theseus. He's and Auror and a hugger," Newt said. I was half thankful that his voice hadn't changed. Then he walked out, I held his coat and Tina followed. We stood in the middle of what looked like an overgrown and abandoned garden. But then, old metal bars surrounded us and the floor started sinking. Down. Down. Then the Ministry appeared. It was way fancier then the British ministry for sure. We didn't have time to look around, as soon as the cage touched the ground, Newt opened the door and walked out. We walked though these long desks of people working. They didn't notice us. Someone else did.

"Dad!" I whispered as loud as I dared. The only person who we didn't want to find us. Theseus. Newt walked faster forcing Tina and I to do the same. "I don't suppose you can disapparate on Ministry premises in France, can you?" Newt said trying not to look in his brother's direction.

"Nope," Tina answered.

"Pity," Newt grunted before turning back to himself.

"Dad look!" I pointed at a pillar to the left of where we were walking.

"Yes, I know it's..." Newt stopped talking when he saw that the pillar had been covered in wanted posters of our faces.

"Newt!" Theseus came running towards us but we ran away faster. "Newt! Megan!"

"That's your brother?" Tina asked between breaths.

"So I think I may have mentioned in my letters that we ave quite a complicated relationship," Newt answered holding my hand so I wouldn't fall behind.

"Newt, stop!" Theseus continued yelling.

"Does he want to kill you?" Tina lead us into a round space that wasn't exactly a room.

"Frequently." Newt said as we passed two people pushing trolleys with lots of boxes.

"Enough!" Theseus pulled out his wand and pulled all the boxes into the air and threw them at us. Tina caught a few of them with her wand.

"He needs control his temper," Tina spoke with confidence before sending Theseus flying backward into a wheely-chair with his hands tied behind his back. He was sent skidding out of the round room. "I think that might have been the best moment of my life," Newt sounded shocked. He made a little movement with his wand that put the boxes floating about our heads back on the trolleys, the people pushing them didn't seem to notice. Then we set off running again.

Luckily we didn't have to run far. Just to and down the stairs. We got to the record department where there was an old woman talking in a strange language.

"Yes, this is Leta Lestrange. And I'm her..." Newt stumbled.

"Fiance," Tina finished. The woman said something in her language and the doors behind her opened.

"Thank you," I mumbled as we walked past her and into the records room.

"Tina, about that fiancee business..." Newt started. The room was dark.

"Oh, sorry. Yeah, I should have congratulated you," Tina didn't look at him.

"No, that's..." Newt tried but Tina interrupted him with a spell that sent a little ball of light flying down the isles of the room. I shifted so I could chase it.

It had the glow of a small star. But flew like a firefly. Slowly but deliberately it flew about. It was searching for something. It was slow but it was almost begging for me to chase it. Suddenly it stopped in the main hall bit. I growled at it but it didn't move.

"Don't be happy," I heard Newt say. "No,no. Sorry. I don't..." he stammered. "Obviously, I..." he dropped his wand and nervously picked it up. "Obviously, I want you to be... And I hear that you are now. Which is wonderful. Sorry, what I'm trying to say is, I want you to be happy, but I don't want you to be happy that I'm happy, because I'm not." I have never known Newt to be so confusing. I grunted. "Sorry not you Megan," Newt added. Tina waved her wand and the light went flying again.

It went up and up and up. I climbed up one of the shelves and jumped for it. But it slipped though my paws. Then I heard a door open and the light disappeared. I went to find Newt and Tina. The shelves started moving. I found Newt just as one came towards them. They jumped on and I did the same.

The pillar we were on turned around and around and then glided forward. If we let go now, we would fall a long way. Then it stopped. I could hear someone talking on the other side of the pillar. We were silent. All but one of us. Pickett came out of Newt's pocket, I tried to grab him but he went into the pillar.

"Circumrota," I heard the voice say. Slowly and awkwardly, the pillar turned. Until Leta could look at us. "Hello Newt and Megan," she sounded half surprised.

"Hello Leta," Newt answered. I gave a little yelp. "Hi," Tina said awkwardly. Then Three black cats came growling through the door that Leta had used to get in. The desk lady coming beside them.

"Oh, no," Newt gasped.

"What kind of cats are those?" Tina asked.

"These aren't cats. They're Matagots. They're spirit familiars. They guard the ministry. They won't hurt you unless..." Newt said slowly.

"Stupefy!" Leta yell making me jump. A blue light came from her wand and hit one of the Matagots. It fell back a little way but then split into three. "Unless you attack them," Newt finished.

Leta had enough time to say " Oops" before joining us on the pillar which was now getting quite crowded. She yelled out "Reverte!" and our pillar started moving back into the crowd. It landed on the floor and we jumped off running. The cats looked like the opposite of a potronus. They chased us into a small gap between pillars. One came towards us and shut us in. I shifted silently. Newt put his case on the floor and gestured that we got in. Tina first. Then Leta. Then me. Then Newt. We stood in the hut while Newt dashed out towards the Zouwu.

I heard him leave through the Zouwu habitat before saying anything. "Why can't I leave the country without the Ministry coming after me?" I complained to break the silence. Both women smiled.

"Because the ministry is looking out for you in case you get into trouble," Leta smiled. She was wrong but the thought was nice.

Then the top of the case opened, Leta got out. Then Tina. Then me. "Hold it there. Hold it there, please," Newt was pushing the Zouwu back so it wouldn't go in the case while we were getting out. The Zouwu grabbed Newt and started playing with him. "Alright," Newt laughed. "Okay, wait."

Tina took the toy from the case and shook it gently. The Zouwu stopped playing. Tina put the toy in the case and the Zouwu walked over and it went into the case calmly as if this was all in it's normal day..
