"I need to get out of this fucking place." You muttered to yourself began to gather your things. You couldn't help but feel fired up. Why would Mal try and make you give away a gift you held so dearly? Who did she think she was? What did she know about your relationship with Harry? The Mal you knew wouldn't behave like this. She wouldn't be so concerned about your love life. She wouldn't care about Evie's necklace being stolen. Nobody you knew would behave like this, and it weirded you out. You weren't used to this place. You were right the first time you visited. You didn't belong here. Your thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. "If you're someone boring then piss off."
"Y/N?" Mal creaked your bedroom door open.
"Did you not hear me?" You continued to throw your stuff into a bag on your bed.
"Y/N you've got to stop running from these things."
"I have no idea what you're on about. I just want to go back to where I belong."
"You don't know where you belong."
"Yes I do. I'm not like you."
"I was exactly like you when I first came here. I was desperate to get home too."
"And now you're desperate to live a lie."
"I don't know what those people you've been hanging out with are drilling into you, but that's wrong. I've never been more true to myself than I am now."
"Yawn."
"If I can belong here so can you! I've said it a million times before and I'll say it again; there's good in you."
"No there's not! There's no good in anyone from the Isle and you know that. You don't fool me. Once a villain, always a villain."
"Would a villain help save the King of Auradon?" Mal reminded you of your battle at Uma's ship, to which you simply stayed silent and continued to toss your things into your bag. "Would a villain help a young girl fix her friendships and realise she needs to come to Auradon? Would a villain really hold onto a gift like this so strongly?" She grabbed a hold of your necklace from Harry, stopping you from packing.
"Money." You shoved her hand off your necklace, behaving rather defensively, yet you had some weird feeling in the pit of your stomach.
"I remember that day Evie first came to school. I was so mad, I hated her."
"Like a villain would."
Mal looked at you in annoyance before continuing her story. "But I remember how you cheered me up. You told me that there was no way she could be more beautiful and evil than me."
"Stroking your own ego a little bit there." But she was right. Her and Evie had a rivalry when Evie first came to Dragon Hall, and you were there to pick Mal up whenever you found her looking upset in the school corridors.
"You're the one who shaved Reza's hair when he ruined Carlos' project for science." While the act itself was rather mean, it really was with good intent. Reza was Carlos' academic rival. You could see how much they annoyed one another, and how angry Carlos was when Reza ruined his project for science. So, you shaved Reza's hair and eyebrows when he fell asleep next to you in class. Nowadays, you would've thought of something more tailored to push Reza's buttons, but it did succeed in annoying the boy. "You're the one who saved Evie from being humiliated by Claudine." Since Claudine Frollo's crush supposedly liked Evie, she had planned on pranking her on her way to school. Claudine's plan was to pour sewage water on Evie from the top of the school belltower on her way inside, but you expertly threw a rock at Claudine just before she did so, causing her to spill the water all over herself. "You're the one who helped Jay hide from a murderous troll." Jay had, as usual, robbed someone, but the troll he robbed decided to fight back. You led the troll in the wrong direction and let Jay hide in your house till he was gone. "None of that was for money."
