The awkwardness hung in the air, trapping it's victims inside an inescapable bubble. There seemed to be nothing to talk about. The mere attempts at starting a conversation had completely failed everytime. We barely knew each other, yet here we were, on a swingset running from the police. This was the reason why I never went to parties. The unpredictable always happened and I was not a risk taker. Watching a random tv show, snuggled in a blanket, a bowl of popcorn and the sun going to sleep behind me was how I normally spent my Saturday nights. Not running away from the fricken police.
I started to panick, thinking of every single bad scenario. What happened if the cops caught us? What if I had to wait out here all night? What if my parents panicked that I didn't come home and called the police? My life would be completely ruined! Calm Piper, calm, breathe, I told myself. I must had been physically panicking because once again the beautiful voice floated through my ears. "Piper are you okay? You seem really panicked. The police aren't gonna catch us I promise, seriously don't stress. We'll be fine!" I turned to face the blue opals.
"Luke you don't understand! I don't stay out late! I haven't been to a party in 2 years! I only went today because Emily is my bestest friend in the world! If I get caught who knows what's going to happen?! I could go to jail! I'd probably have to drop out of school! My life would be-"
"Piper calm down! We'll be fine!"
"No no no! It's not okay! I'm screwed! If my parents find out I'm going to be absolutely-"
The sudden pressure on my lips stopped me dead in my tracks. In a moment of panick I thought maybe the police had heard me talking to loud and were trying to shut me up so they could arrest me. No, it couldn't be the police, they don't use tongues to shut people up. Shit, shit I thought. I was getting fricken kissed! After the lightbulb realisation in my head, I decided the most reasonable way was to kiss Luke back. Feeling his grin upon my mouth, we deepened our kiss. His hands gently cupped my face and kissed me harder. With more confidence, I react to his touch. I wrap my arm around his neck, sliding my hand up his firm back up to his soft, golden hair. For a few minutes, we kiss, on the swingset of love with the gentle sound of the trees rustling in the background. Finally, we break apart. "You know Piper, you should panick talk more often"
