It's In Our Blood

There was a time when we both knew;

Holding each other, we’d feel the sunrise and morning dew.

But it seems that coursing through our veins,

To keep things real, a dose of fear still remains.

Now I’m staring at my empty page,

Feeling trapped inside this cage,

Reliving our fight, it’s no shame.

We all have a need to settle the score and play the game.

It’s in our blood, it’s in our hearts,

We’re slaves to love, and in no small part.

It drives our souls and drives us wild,

Burns and blazes for many a mile.

Forces us to seize this time,

For life alone is a heinous crime.

We can try with all our might,

But it’s in our blood!

Your tender hands cradled me; they put me at ease,

I felt so at peace, it’s hard to believe.

We fit together, our bodies glowed,

You squeezed me tight, and our true love flowed.

We can try to run; we can try to hide,

But we both know there’s another side.

Of you and me,

It’s plain to see.

A pair of fools we make,

Blood ties we can’t forsake.

So how do we forgive?

And live and let live?
