A couple of weeks later Y/N was improving, she was beginning to feel better as time passed. She and Barry had talked about what happened to them over the past seven months a lot over the past few days, and they were both starting to move on. Though it would take time at least they were starting the healing process.
Y/N was up and walking with Barry by her side, the two were walking around S.T.A.R. Labs hand in hand to pass the time.
"Someone is feeling better," Barry mentioned as he noticed the smile on Y/N's lips.
Y/N nodded as she looked up at Barry and met his gaze, "I am, I am finally starting to feel at peace again, which is something I haven't felt in a long time."
Barry squeezed Y/N's hand gently, "That's good," he told her.
"What about you, how are you feeling?" Y/N wondered.
Barry shrugged, "Better, a lot better actually, but I miss running around the city."
"Me too, but someday soon the Flashes will make their return to Central City," Y/N told Barry. "My speed is nearly back to standard levels, I'm just not ready to go back yet, but you on the other hand. You could go back, your speed is practically back to what it used to be."
Barry nodded, "I know it is."
"So what's holding you back?" Y/N asked, sensing his hesitation.
"I'm missing someone very important," Barry replied.
Y/N smirked, "Yeah? And who is that?" she wondered.
Barry came to a stop in front of Y/N, "Someone who is always by my side, always has my back, and on occasion beats me in a race," he told her.
Y/N let out a soft laugh, "On occasion? I think you mean every time," she corrected.
Barry laughed, "Nice try," he teased.
"Seriously, you don't have to wait for me to go back to being a hero," she told Barry. "I don't want to hold you back."
Barry shook his head, "You aren't holding me back, and you're right, I don't have to wait for you, but I want to. The Flashes are a pair, they went missing together, and they should return together."
"That's a very sweet sentiment, Barry," Y/N told him.
"Only the sweetest for you," he replied.
Y/N smiled, "Thank you for being here, Barr, it means a lot," she said as she squeezed Barry's hand that was holding hers.
"I could say the same, you've been here for me too," Barry told her.
Y/N gently pulled Barry closer and pressed her lips against his, "I love you," she whispered as she pulled back slightly, her lips still brushing over his.
Barry smiled against Y/N's lips as he leaned in for a second kiss, "I love you too."
Y/N stayed close to Barry for a moment before she spoke up, "We should head back to the Cortex, I'm sure Cisco is back with the pizza by now," she mentioned.
Barry nodded as he wrapped his arms around Y/N and pulled her impossibly closer to him, "I just have one more thing I want to do."
Y/N smirked, "Hmm...and what's that?" she wondered as Barry rested his forehead against hers gently.
Barry leaned forward and pressed his lips against Y/N's. Y/N's hands rested against Barry's chest as he pulled back.
"Happy?" Y/N asked as she met Barry's eyes.
Barry nodded, "Very happy," he assured Y/N as he took her hand and intertwined their fingers as they started heading back towards the Cortex.
Along the way, they ran into Cisco who had two pizza boxes in his hands.
"Just in time," Cisco commented as the three walked into the Cortex. "I hope you guys are hungry."
Barry smirked, "Is that even a question you need to ask?"
Y/N let out a soft laugh as the three took a seat at Cisco's array of computers before they dug into the food.
Minutes later, Barry and Y/N had just finished their first pizza and were about to start on the second one when an alert sounded in the Cortex.
Cisco looked up and began typing away, "It's a building fire downtown in the Old Market," he explained. "Central City Fire and Rescue are on the way," he added.
"How many people are in the building?" Y/N asked.
"A lot, it's a newly renovated apartment building, it opened a few months ago and it looks like spaces went quickly because of how affordable it is," Cisco replied.
Y/N turned and met Barry's eyes, "There's no way the fire department will get everyone out in time."
Barry sighed, he knew exactly what Y/N was thinking, "Do you feel ready?"
Y/N nodded, "Let's do this..."
