Barry and Y/N were on the same page and they sped into their respective suits. Cisco had taken it upon himself to patch up and fix the suits that had been damaged over the past seven months while both speedsters focused on healing over the past several weeks.

Cisco also knew what Barry and Y/N were thinking about, and though he too wanted them to return as heroes, he knew that it might be too soon. Cisco didn't want his friends to rush into something they weren't ready for.

Within seconds, Barry and Y/N stood in the Cortex fully suited up as they synced their communication systems.

"Are you two sure about this?" Cisco questioned, a sense of worry in his tone.

Barry turned and met Y/N's eyes, they both nodded, "People out there need saving, and it's up to us to do it..."

Barry and Y/N sped out of the Cortex and across Central City to the site of the building fire.

The feeling of being back on the streets and running was something they had both missed so desperately over the past seven months. Feeling the wind on their faces, the ground beneath their feet, and the lightning...

Both Barry and Y/N felt as if they were back in their natural state, doing what they were made to do, be heroes...

The two arrived on the scene in a matter of seconds. As far as the two speedsters could tell, the first floor of the building had caught fire and managed to trap everyone on the upper floors by eliminating all the exit points.

Barry turned to Y/N, he gave her a subtle nod which she returned with a smirk before she sped off.

Barry focused on putting the fire out while Y/N ran inside the building and began running several scared citizens to safety. After a few minutes, Barry began helping Y/N with her efforts to evacuate the building as the Central City Fire Department arrived.

The Fire Department quickly managed to contain and put out the fire while Barry and Y/N checked over the building to make sure every last person got out safely. They then chose to make sure the people they had saved were okay.

Most of the people they had rescued were in shock, but not due to fear or panic, but rather, they were in shock that Central City's heroes had returned after being missing for so long.

Barry and Y/N took a step back, they were standing beside a fire truck as they took a moment for themselves. Y/N turned and met Barry's eyes, she couldn't help but smile.

Barry returned the smile gladly, he and Y/N still had adrenaline pumping through their veins, the feeling of being back after so long was almost indescribable.

It was in this moment that everything Zoom had put them through over the past seven months, the countless hours of questions, the torture, the tauntings...it didn't matter anymore...because the Flashes were back, and they had just saved dozens of people.

Barry and Y/N were home, they were safe, and above all...they were happy. No impending doom was hanging over their heads, no one was standing in their path anymore, they were free...

"That felt-"

"Good," Barry interrupted with a smile. "And also long overdue," he added.

Y/N let out a soft laugh, "I couldn't agree more," she told Barry as they both gazed at the group of people they had just rescued.

The flash of cameras and the sound of reporters did not go unnoticed by Barry or Y/N, they were both well aware of the media presence that was focused on them at the moment. Large crowds civilians had also gathered to see if the return of their beloved heroes was actually true or if it was just another hoax.

The return of the heroes brought hope back to Central City, though Team Flash had taken care of the city in their absence, it wasn't the same without them.

Y/N and Barry had taken notice of the Flash emblems that had been painted and posted across the city in remembrance of them. They were glad to be back, and they could tell that the people of Central City were glad to have them back.

Captain Singh had just arrived on the scene, he didn't intend on stopping by, but then he heard someone mention the Flashes over the police radio and he couldn't resist seeing the sight for himself.

He stepped out of his car and smiled when he saw Barry and Y/N suited up and standing beside a fire truck. They both seemed much better than they had been when he visited them a few weeks ago, they seemed happy.

Singh walked over to the pair, "I take it congratulations are in order," he greeted.

Barry shook his head, "We're just doing our jobs," he told Singh.

"Speaking of which, are you two okay? Being back in the swing of things?" Singh wondered.

Y/N smiled, "It feels good, normal almost," she answered. "We've both missed this."

Singh smiled, "I'm happy for you two, that you're feeling better. I don't know if you're up for it, but I have a lot of reporters who would like to have you guys answer a few questions."

Barry turned and met Y/N's eyes, she gave him a subtle nod, a sign that she was okay. "Let's do it," Barry said turning back to Singh.

Singh led the two over to the swarm of reporters that all had their cameras angled at Central City's beloved heroes.

"Seven months ago we lost our heroes, and ever since, this city has felt empty...that changes tonight. The Flashes have always been a beacon of hope in this city, and it is thanks to them that we still have this city and that we're safe in this city. Central City our heroes have returned," Singh said with a proud smile as Barry and Y/N stepped forward and smiled.

The two stood tall in front of the flashing cameras, one reporter stepped forward, "Where have you been all this time?" she shouted over the crowd around her.

"Where we have been doesn't matter, it's part of our past, what does matter is that we're back...and we're not going anywhere anytime soon..."
