Y/N's once happy expression faded at Barry's words. She feared what Barry meant, she felt as if they had just recovered from Zoom, and now there was something new to face. When would they get a break?

"What happened?" Cisco questioned, pulling Y/N from her thoughts.

"I got an interesting case at work today, I was hoping to discuss it with you," Barry said, his gaze shifting to meet Y/N's eyes.

Y/N nodded, "Yeah, of course," she replied with a forced smile on her lips. She could tell that whatever case Barry was talking about, it wasn't good. Y/N knew that what happened to her and Barry with Zoom was bad, but what made matters worse, is that things could always get worse...

Barry took Y/N's hand as he ran her and himself to the police station, his lab more specifically.

Y/N smiled slightly when she saw that Barry's lab hadn't changed a bit, everything was exactly how he had left it. However, her smile faded when she saw the large stack of case files that littered Barry's desk, whatever this case was, it was big.

"So, tell me about the case," Y/N said as she sat down and joined Barry at his desk.

Barry sighed, he took a seat beside Y/N, unsure of where to begin. "Captain Singh, Joe, and I believe that the Machiavelli and Rossi crime families have combined forces and created Central City's most recent crime syndicate," he explained.

"I've heard of the Machiavelli family, but I've never heard the name Rossi before," Y/N replied, her eyes scanning over the files that Barry was handing her.

"That's because they changed their name, they were formerly the Darbynian crime family," Barry clarified.

Y/N nodded, "Do we have any proof of the syndicate, or is this all circumstantial?" she asked.

Barry nodded, "The crime syndicate has been linked to over a dozen illegal arms deals in the city tracking back as far as seven months ago," he answered.

Y/N sighed, "That means they started business once we went off the radar," she concluded.

Barry nodded and confirmed Y/N's conclusion. "The syndicate doesn't appear to have any connection to the Flashes, they don't seem to mind that we're back. It could just be a coincidence that this all started after we left."

"You and I both know that this being a coincidence is highly unlikely," Y/N told Barry. "If anything, they saw the Flashes disappearance as a chance to start their underground market for illegal weapons with a lower chance of being caught."

"That could be true. CCPD has been tracking the syndicate's movements since they found out about the arms deals two months ago," Barry informed Y/N.

Y/N furrowed her brows in confusion, "Why haven't they made a move to take down the syndicate?" she asked.

"That's where this case gets complicated," Barry mentioned. "Two detectives, Sparrow and Jameson were running point on a task force that was tracking the syndicate and planning a raid to take down both crime families."

"Sounds like quite the task force," Y/N commented. "Where are these two detectives now, wouldn't they have the best information on the families?"

Barry nodded, "They would if they were here," he replied. "Sparrow and Jameson went missing one week ago, they didn't say anything, they just dropped off the grid, didn't leave a trace."

Y/N furrowed her brows, confused slightly, "How do two of the precinct's best detectives go missing?" she questioned.

Barry shrugged, "I should have mentioned earlier how complicated this case is," he told Y/N. "But, it gets worse."
