"Listen bud, I as much as I... appreciate it... I really have to go."

The man with the bibles continued to rant about The Big Gay and Hell and shit. He had me cornered and I was desperate to get away from him.

Lucky me, he saw my pride tattoo. That's what started this. He saw it as I was walking by his one man protest and did everything but jumped me.

"Ok, sir, yes. I'm a big fat lesbian. Alright? I'm going to hell. No one likes the gays. I get it. Now can I go?" I tried to reason with him but that obviously didn't work.

This was getting tiresome. I rolled my eyes as he kept going.

All of a sudden I heard a "Hey!"

I looked in the direction of the hey and found a short girl striding in our direction, the glare on her face pointed at Bible Guy. He stopped for a second to look at her too.

"Hey, dude! Leave her alone," She stopped in front of him, craning her neck upwards, and began to tell him off faster than he could spit out scripture.

"She said she didn't wanna hear it and yet! You kept goin! What kinda stupid, selfish, idiot just keeps harassing someone just cause they're different?! And especially someone who's main deity's whole schtick is literally love?!"

I smiled down at her as she kept yelling at him. She was cute. Her brunette hair looked very soft and her brown eyes were filled with a fire I couldn't explain. 'She's very pretty.' I concluded to myself.

At some point in my inner monologue of admiration for her, she had finally gotten somewhat through to Bible Guy. He silently walked away clutching his bible to his chest, muttering something about lesbians and hell or something.

Shorty huffed out a sigh and turned towards me, "Are you okay? I should've intervened sooner I just didn't realize how long he'd go..." she smiled worriedly.

"Yeah. I-I'm fine... thank you so much. I couldn't get a word in edgewise but you told him off like there was no tomorrow." We both chuckled. There was a silence for a second or two then she suddenly held out her hand.

"Lauren." She smiled, waiting for me.

"(Y/N)." I took her hand. We stood there for a moment, looking into each others eyes warmly.

We broke the stare as Lauren started stuttering, "ah, um, I was actually on my way for some morning coffee at the cafe down the street. Um would you maybe wanna join?"

"Sure. I could use some coffee" I answered.

"Oh, cool." She smiled and we started for the cafe she was talking about.

Later

We exited the cafe, laughing a out a joke she had said. Her laugh was cute too. Everything about this short girl was cute.

She broke me out of my semi trance by grabbing at my hand, "Here. Give me your hand!" She giggle out. She grabbed a pen from her purse and began to write on it, though I couldn't see what she was writing.

When I finally got my hand back, I looked at it. She had written her number on my hand.

"This was fun," She started, looking down. I could see her face flush a little.

I smirked, "I should get harrassed by Bible Guy more often if this is the outcome." Lauren laughed.

"See you again then?" She asked.

"That goes without saying, I suppose." I smiled

"Good." She walked away, waving a goodbye. I was left standing there, staring into the distance, smiling like an idiot. I shook my head and reached for my phone to add this Lauren girl to my contacts as Short Cutey.

I smiled, and put my phone back in my pocket. As I strode proudly down the street I thought about how to ask her for coffee again tomorrow.
