Good

I walked through the halls of our ship, just to walk. It was around 8-ish in the morning. I liked morning walks, on Earth or on the Starship. Either way, I needed it. Time to think, you know?

Up ahead I saw Taz. She was hunched over a clipboard, in front of some TV tech stuff, making checkmarks all over the paper. She stopped and looked at the TV, before cutely scrunching her face up. She was so short and cute but also such a hot badass. A two in one if you will. I stopped myself from staring when she looked over at me.

"Taz! I mean- Ma'am! Uh. Hi!" I stuttered out. She cocked an eyebrow.

"Hola? What do you want, private?"

"Um. Nothing. I just wanted to say good morning is all..."

"Well. You said it. Don't you have some assignments to do?"

"Ah." I started, "Well, you see, Ma'am... Commander Up has assigned one day a week for each of us to take the day off until twelve o'clock. Today's my day actually." Taz froze. Glared. Then changed her stance to look straight at me.

"Que?" I backed up as she spoke.

"Ya know what, Ma'am? I think... I'm gonna... ah... get to work! Yeah... that's probably a good idea. I'll, um, see you around."

Taz waved her hand, "Eh, don't bother. I'm not suprised. Up's tough, but he's a little soft, still. I can't stop him, huh?" She nudged my shoulder as I laughed nervously, "Yeah. Yeah. You're right..."

"Hey, um, you know. I've seen you working around nonstop for the past week or two," I started, "Maybe you could... use a break?" I suggested.

"Are you saying I look tired?" She glared.

"No! No- no! I was just- I just wanted- um forget it," I slouched as I turned towards the direction of my sleeping quarters. Taz stopped me by grabbing my arm. She was so strong. I never wanted to admit it to anyone but I had such a huge crush on her. She was kind- in her own way- and so smart, and tough. She was perfect. In her beautiful way.

"No. I was messing. Finish what you were saying. Que pasa? What's up with you?" She lowered her voice and pulled me in a little closer. That was certainly not helping.

"I just wanted to ask you to the food court. For breakfast. Nice caramel frap- nothing better. Maybe a pancake or two." I nervously chuckled. Taz laughed along.

"I suppose you're right. I could use a break. Yeah, let's go to the food court." I smiled as she set off for the food court, without waiting up.

"Yeah. Sounds good." I said quietly, as I caught up to her.

Lunch was quiet. There were a few small conversations but they ended as quickly as they started.

As we left the food court, I excused myself and we parted ways. When she was out of sight I sprinted down the corridors to Up's quarters. I banged on his door loudly, "Up! We have a situation!!" I yelled.

Up slammed open his door, "What?! Robot invasion?! More bugs?! God's actually not dead, we found him, and his pissed?!"

I shook my head, "No!" I fumbled with my hands quickly, "I like someone!"

Up's eyes widened as he ushered me into his room, "Oh God, alright c'mon in. Let's talk about it." He sat me down on his bed while he sat in his chair.
He smiled, "Tell me everything!"

I hesitated. Was Commander Up okay with girls liking girls? Who knew? There was one way to find out though...

"I think I like Taz! Alot. I mean shes cute and funny. And so badass and awesome! And everytime she talks to me I get this feeling in my stomach and heart. And I dont know if it's right but God do I hope so..." I put my head in my hands, overwhelmed.

"Well darlin', you ain't gonna get nowhere if you tell don't Taz how you feel!" Commander Up did have a point, but what if she didn't feel the same way?

"But what if she doesn't like me like that!" I retorted, "There's still more than a year left on our mission... How can I work with her then?"

Up leaned his chair back and loudly slammed his boots on his desk as he stared me down.

"Up? What do I do?" I pleaded.

"I think you know exactly what to do now, little lady. So go do it! Get outta here!" He ushered me out of his office, smiling.
I did know what to do. But doing it? Telling her how I felt? That was a whole other thing... I just couldn't tell Taz I liked her!

I headed to my room, biting down on my fingernails as I walked.

"This is gonna be hard... But I could just get it over with, right? No! Ugh this is impossible!" I angrily muttered to myself.

"Que es imposible?" I heard a familiar voice behind me as I rounded the corner to my room, at the end of one of the hallways. Turning around, I saw Taz, hands on her hips, brows furrowed. I flinched slightly, thinking up a believable lie. Just my luck, nothing came to mind.

"Uhhh- Nothing!" I blurted out, backing up. I could just tell her! But I couldn't! I couldn't bear to be on the same ship as her knowing she didn't feel the same things I did! The rush to my head. The sick-but-so-good feeling in my stomach. The shivers when we lock eyes. The jump in my heart when our hands brush against each other.

With every step I took back she took one forward. I felt my face heat up, looking for anywhere to fasten my eyes other than hers.
Taz shifted her stance to let her arms fall to the side. She looked up at me seeming confused and worried.

"What's wrong with you?"

"What? I- I don't know what your talking about." I stuttered out, blindly reaching behind me for the door to my room.

"Well," She pointed towards my face, "Your cara is all red." I still couldn't find the damn doorknob. "Not to mention you won't make any eye contact. Do you have flu?" She crossed her hands over her chest, continuing on about 'what was wrong with me'.
I couldn't hold myself back before I interrupted her, "It's cause I like you! A lot, okay? You're just so cool and badass and funny and I just can't help it! I'm sorry!"

Taz froze for a moment. Taking this opportunity, I tried to turn around so I could find the doorknob to my room I was so desperately reaching for. A strong force turned me around as I fumbled around the door.

"Taz..." She pinned me against the door, a determined look on her face. Suddenly she loosened up a little, confusion written on her face.

"Wait... Really?" She whispered. I could've sworn I saw a small smile.

"Y-yeah..." She froze again, still pinning me against the wall. Her face was red. Our eyes were locked together. Our faces where so close. I was aware of every minute movement and detail.

"Good." She spoke. If I wasn't right in front of her, I wouldn't've heard a thing.

"Huh?"

She leaned up and pecked my lips quickly.

"Good."

I smiled, letting go of the breath I didn't know I was holding in, "Good."
