His footsteps echoed through the empty halls. A stormtrooper showed up to his quarters notifying him that General Hux had something to tell him. That made him extremely nervous. Hux despised him. He would never demand his presence unless something bad had happened. He had quite a few ideas about what that might be.

"Yes, sir. Bringing them in..." he heard Lieutenant Mitaka drift off as he entered the room.

"General Hux. Is it the resistance pilot?" Kylo asked angrily, looming over him. Hux gave him a once ove before nodding.

"Yes, and he had help." He muttered, "from one of our own." He added, vexed.

Kylo's mind instantly flashed back to the village on Jakku. The stormtrooper with the bloody helmet. It had nothing to do with his force sensitivity. He sensed the guy's fear back there and this was an act of fear. He broke the pilot out because he needed him to escape from the horrors of the first order. Kylo wished he could do the same. Hux's voice broke his train of thoughts.

"We're checking the registers now to identify which stormtrooper it was."

"The one from the village. FN-2187." He saved the general the trouble then proceeded to exit, feeling Hux's hateful glare burning in the back of his head.

He needed that map. He needed to find Luke Skywalker. Maybe then his torturous days of guilt would end and he'd finally have some peace. His family ruined his life. It would only seem fit that he'd destroy theirs. His heart clenched at the thought and he cursed himself for being weak. How can he still care for the people who never cared for him? His mother cared only about politics and her position as a general meanwhile his father spent his time looking for the same excitement he felt as a smuggler before settling down. He spent more tine with the servants than his own parents.

And then he was sent to live with his uncle. The legendary jedi who once saved the galaxy. He looked up to him, saw him as a hero. For a while Luke saw his potential but then it turned into a matter of legacy. Everyone feared he'd end up like his grandfather. And they cowered in fear against his demons leaving him to battle them on his own. They're the reason he's embracing the darkness. They never believed he had any ounce of light inside of him. Why should he?

The second the door to his quarters shut behind him, he ripped the mask and threw across the room. It seemed like a habit the past few days. Ever since that night in Jakku, he'd been on edge. He felt something on that planet. Apart from the fear and guilt that consumed his soul, there was something else. He'd never felt anything like it before. Shaking his head, he stood up grabbed his mask and walked out of the room. He was met with General Hux near the bridge. The general filled him on the conversation he had with the Supreme Leader.

"Supreme Leader Snoke was explicit. Capture the droid if we can, but destroy it if we must." He explained as Kylo rolled his eyes for the hundredth time since the man opened his mouth.

"How capable are your soldiers, captain?" He wondered.

"I won't have you question my methods." Hux barked at him and Kylo noticed the way he clenched his jaw.

"They're obviously skilled at committing high treason. Perhaps leader Snoke should consider using a clone army." He sassed smirking from behind the mask. There's absolutely nothing that could cheer him on more than getting on the general's nerves.
