I woke up on Jonny's lap about 2 hours later, everyone was in the living room just looking at me. I noticed my arm was up and showing my scars. I pulled down my sleeve and snuggled closer to Johnny. He laughed and continued to play with my hair. " hey Dar I'm hungry what's for supper?" I asked with my eyebrow cocked. " well I was waiting on you to wake up because were going to go to the dingo for dinner tonight" he replied with a smile. I jumped up and almost head butted Johnny. " Sorry Johnnycakes" " Its okay Ash" I smiled at him and then ran upstairs to my room to get my shoes and ran back down to run straight into Dallas. " hey Dal did see you there." I said laughing. " Hahah come on road runner were leaving." he then picked me up over is shoulder and took me out side. I guess ill put my shoes on in the car. He sat me down on the back tailgate of the truck in the middle of pony and Johnny. He hopped on the tire and jumped in the back so he could sit with us. I put on my black and white converse on and had Johnny tie one shoe and then pony tie the other one because I'm to lazy to do it. About 5 minutes down the road we were at the Dingo and everyone was getting out the truck. Dallas was the first one to jump down from the back followed by pony. Johnny stayed back to help me so I wouldn't fall off the tire like last time. That's a long story and lets just say I had a cast on my hand for about a month. Me and Johnny had made our way in side and saw that the gang had done found a table big enough for the eight of us in the back. We walked over there and I sat between Pony and Soda while Johnny went and sat beside Dallas and on the other side of Ponyboy. " hello my names Jennifer and I'll be yalls server today what can I start yall off with? " The gang all ordered Pepsi and I was about to order when she started to walk away. I got upset so I just sat there and didn't say anything because I didn't want to start anything. The waitress came back over and handed everyone there drinks and started to take there order. They all ordered a burger and fries. Once again she didn't see me. Am I really not that noticeable. After a few minutes of waiting the she brought the guys food out and they started to eat. Pony looked over at me and noticed I didn't have anything. " Ash why don't you have anything? I thought you were hungry?" " she looked right over me I didn't want to start anything so I didn't say anything." Darry got mad when I said that. If we were in one of Two's Mickey Mouse shows he would have steam going out his ears. " Ashlynn you need to start speaking up, now when she comes over here you need to tell her. I'm not going to take no as an answer young lady." "But Darry its not my fault she didn't ask me." " yes but you could have said something here she comes now you better tell her." " fine" I whispered. She walked right over to where I was sitting and stud right behind me. " is there anything else I can help you gentlemen with?" " umm you didn't take my order." " well if you need anything I will be over there just holler." and she walked away. She just ignored me. Pony looked over at me shocked written all over his face. " Ashlynn why didn't you tell her." Darry asked me still mad. " I did she just walked away." " you said it to softly then speak up next time." I just held my head down low and just kept to my self. Pony just looked over at me and slid his food towards me. I shock my head no and told him I was going to the bathroom. He shook his head telling me okay. I got up and mad my way over to the other side of the restaurant. I made my way inside the stall all the way at the end and sat on the toilet lid and cried. We were just getting along this morning. Its not my fault that she ignored me and didn't listen. I'm invisible to people outside the gang. I was in there I believe for about 10 minutest when I heard someone knock on the door. " Ash are you in here?" it was soda. I unlocked the stall door and washed my hands. I opened the door and saw Soda and Steve standing there. They must have seen my teary eyes because they pulled me into a hug. I just started to cry again as Soda told me it was going to be okay. " It wasn't my fault bubba it wasn't she ignored me and pony saw that. Darry didn't even listen to me. He didn't believe me." " I know princess I know just let it all out." he replied. " hey Ash me and soda was going to go to a drag race tomorrow night do you want to go with us to make up for tonight. " Steve asked me. " if that's fine with you guys ill go." he just nodded his head and smiled at me showing all his crocked teeth. I laughed and smiled back at him. Soda and Steve lead me back to the table. I took my spot beside pony and Soda and there was a bowl of ice cream in front of me with two spoons. Pony winked at me and grabbed a spoon and started to eat. I laughed and grabbed the other spoon and started to eat also. About 20 minutes later we got the check and Darry paid while the rest of us went out to the truck. Pony and Dallas was the first ones in the back while Johnny helped me up. " thanks Johnnycakes" " your welcome angle cakes" " hey you guys want to go out and hunt some action when we get back?" Dal asked us. Me and Johnny looked over at Ponyboy and he got the hint to answer for us." yeah since its not a school night Darry will let us out." Dal nodded in response. " hey monkey I have a question for ya?" " what is it Dal?" " why did you do it?" " do what?" " cut yourself man why did ya do it?" I wasn't expecting this but ill tell him. " well it was an exit from my brain like the only thing I could control. With everything that had happen with chandler and the bulling form school I couldn't handle it. So I found an exit." They all looked shocked. Pony knew this but always looks shocked when ever I tell him why I did it. " well if you need anything man you know we got your back don't we Johnnycakes." he asked Johnny. " yeah Dals right. " thanks guys" they nodded and smiled at me. Well Johnny did Dal winked at me and Pony went and hit his shoulder. We had pulled up to the house and Pony Jumped out to tell Darry we were going with Dallas to hang out. He said okay just to be back before midnight. Johnny helped me out the truck again and held my hand. Why am I getting butterflies in my stomach. He always holds my hand. Oh well and I brushed it off. We all started to walk around town and we were out for about 3 hours and it was now about 10 at night. We heard a low rumble of a car engine. We turned around and was a red mustang. " walk faster and if we need to fight get ready" Dal told us. I felt Johnny's hand start to shake, so I squeezed it so he knew I was there. We heard a door slam so we stopped. " hey guys its a couple of greasers and a greaser girl." " what do you socs want man?" Dallas asked " to get the trash off the streets." that soc said and that was the last thing I heard before I saw blackness.
