"Are you kidding me? I just told you that we were attacked and you are telling me to leave? I am not going anywhere without Martha!" I grit my teeth and then turned to Lila, almost pleading as much as I wouldn't like to think it like that and said, "Lila, you promised me that I'd stay the night."

"Are we seriously having this conversation? You just said that you were attacked! Do you know what that means?" Chloe glared at me and I could have sworn that the ground rumbled a little beneath my feet. I shuffled back a bit. I keep forgetting they are all Goddesses.

Lila stepped between, shoving us both a little, "Let's not forget that Martha is still upstairs and she doesn't know anything about all this."

"Then tell her!" I say with my lips thinning into a hard line of contempt.

"This is exactly why I don't like him. The moment he crossed Martha's life, he has done nothing but put her into danger." Chloe says and anger flares into me, but before I say anything Lila cuts me off,

"Chloe, calm down. I don't think this attack had anything to do with Austin. This is something else." She looked pointedly at her sister and then inclined her head in a way to prove more emphasis.

"Yes, thank you. By the way-"

"Austin, we don't have the time for your mindless chatter. Tell us what did you see? How did you know they were the attackers?" Lila cuts me off, again.

"Yes, thanks. I was just going to tell you that anyway." I roll my eyes before I continue,

"Well, at first I didn't think that it was anyone when I heard the flocking of horses. But then I saw that they weren't horses. They were something else." I paused, thinking back to when they were pointing arrows at us. I saw Lila and Chloe exchanging looks.

"I was a bit shocked when I saw that their upper half was human and not that of a normal horse's upper half. Their fleshes meshed near the torso of the upper human body part with the bottom half, if that makes any sense. And, then before I could think more or whatever, one of them pointed an arrow at me and Martha. That was my cue, so I grabbed Martha's wrist and ran for our lives."

At my reply, Lila closed her eyes for a minute as if in a prayer while Chloe's eyes concentrated on me, her face twitching with an emerging frown.

"Wait, one of them? How many were there?"

"Trust me on this but I barely had the time to stop and count them on my fingers. But there were definitely more." I tell them, rubbing my eyes closed with a fist.

"She will be burnt anew, attacked by those who try to douse her but blazed by the smoke of her past, she would bring light in the times that seem the most dark." Lila says in a soft soothing voice and my eyes flick to her.

For a moment, it felt like I was watching Martha tell one of her beautiful poems. So maybe there is some relation among them, after all.

I arch an eyebrow at the two sisters and when they both look at each other as if someone is going to die and say nothing, I was almost a second into scratching my face in frustration but stopped. "I think I am going to head back to Martha's room now. She'd be expecting me."

The goddesses gave me a displeased look, burning their gazes on my back as I ran upstairs and entered their sister's room.

Martha had already gone back to sleep, her mouth half open in a deep slumber. A weird clench stirs me near my abdomen as I come closer to her. She is so beautiful.

I sit just there on my knees near the bedside for a minute, staring at her beautiful moon face sleeping and softly snoring, and before I know what I am doing, my fingers poke the redness of her cheeks.

She slowly peels open her wild green eyes, so much that I don't even notice when she is staring back at me and I stumble back, almost falling on my back.

She stifles a grin and bites her lower lip. Another clench just below my stomach stirs and I feel my blood rushing down at my cock.

"What are you smiling at?" I say, my fingers involuntarily releasing her lower lip from between her teeth. She stills and then draws a breath.

"You fell." She smiles with amusement dancing in her irises, her cheeks reddening more than ever. "You were watching me sleep."

"Yes, Bella. I was." I say drily and she again bites her lips. I resist the urge to release her lips from her teeth and bite them myself. "Do you know how beautiful you are?" I ask her and she rolls her eyes, very cutely.

"Do you know you freaked me out?" She asked me and it was my turn to roll eyes.

"What took you so long?"

"I went to pee..." I say after a long pause of remembering what lie I had told her earlier when those weird creatures attacked. "And, then I was trying to convince your sisters that I would move out tomorrow. But for tonight, I'd like to stay with you."

She blushes a little then shakes it away with a cute frown on her face, asking me- "My sisters don't like you very much."

"Is that a trick question?" I give her a deadpan look and she laughs. I smile back. "Yeah, they don't trust me right now but they'd be along."

"You didn't tell me how we met." She added with a cute voice as I sat on her bed, next to her.

A similar wave of sadness washes over me like the earlier one today when we were almost attacked by those half horses.

I still remember when she had newly admissioned into college and had commented on one of my 'What will you remind me about yourself if I ever lost my memory?' posts, and she had written about the very first day we met. When she forgot her wallet or something and I paid on her behalf. I had laughed it off back then, thinking who would even remember this.

I see, the tables have turned now. Quite spectacularly.

"We met in college. This very year, a few months ago. You are in your freshman year right now and I am your senior. I'll graduate by the end of this semester." I tell her and she nods, her face scrunching up in a 'I-am-thinking' look. I can almost hear her thinking.

"So we are new into this relationship?" She hesitates and I give her a brief nod. "And er, how did we get into a relationship?"

I laughed. Nervously.

"Don't ask me that."

"Why?" Her face falls slightly but she covers her disappointment quickly.

"Because I didn't even know when I fell in love with you. It just happened." I say, truly and she strays her gaze onto her lap deliberately, trying to hide her blush.

"Yeah, yeah. It happens eventually and takes us down with it. No warnings and in one second, you'd be falling already." She says to my surprise and a swell of hope pumps frantically with the beats of my heart. I look at her, speechless.

"Hey, that was my line. You remember it!" I smile and her eyes widen with disbelief.

"Really?" She looks at me in awe and I wish I could just freeze myself, her and this time right here. That is it. It'll be perfect.

"You don't remember me but I can never forget you. No matter what happens." I say and for a moment I feel like crying but that would be too weird.

Her face instantly reddens and again, she looks away.

"Good night, Austin." She says, shyly.

"Good night, love." I say and slid inside the duvet, next to her while still maintaining a little distance.
