Third POV

As the Sons of Ragnar and elven princess walked back to Kattegat that was now winding down from the busy morning to quietness. Families were now having their evening meal and conversations between each other. There were times when laughter could be heard, or the excited voices of storytellers escaped the individual homes. As for the group of men and high being return home, Aslaug had prepared them a meal only fit for royalty. However, there were only two at the table since Ubbe, Sigurd and Hvitserk hadn't changed from their swim in the sea. As for Gilthoniel and Ivar, they were sitting already at the table across from each other already enjoying the meal that Aslaug had the servants prepare them. An arrangement of meats, vegetables, and different types of grain. All hand-picked by Aslaug seeing that the progress between her dear friend and her sons were going so well. In addition, to the downfall of the servant girl, they were once obsessed with. It wasn't a moment later that the three older brothers rolled into the room joking around and retelling the funny events of what happened earlier. Ubbe had brought with him some of his furs that draped over his arm. He was excited to walk over to his side of the table to place it on the princess' shoulders. Ignoring Margrethe completely. It caused a bitter look to appear on the young girl's face. And hate for the woman who 'stole' him grow exponentially. Gilthoniel was not blind to this but choose to ignore it as she turned to look up at him with a smile on her face, thanking him verbally for his hospitality. Ubbe's heart easily skipped a beat to see the beauty of her smile appear on her flawless beauty. It was after all one of his favorite things about her.

After all, the Ragnarssons and Star-kindler had finally gotten settled all were enjoying each other company. Even though the eldest brother Bjorn wasn't in attendance. The only one who wasn't happy was Margarethe who was now only reduced to servant rather than, mistress to the three eldest Ragnarsson's. Her forlorn looks at each of the princes didn't go unnoticed by Aslaug who was quietly sipping on her honey mead filled horn. Neither did the death glares the servant girl gave to the elven princess who was talking to Hvitserk about the different pies that she has yet to try. It was one of many interests that the prince had in his young life. He was happy that his love was as deeply interested in food as he was since the princess had always been open to trying new things. Hvitserk was more than, happy to explain. However, Gilthoniel was aware that the whore of a woman was planning something ungodly against her. Most likely something that would threaten her life or her character but either way the princess was ready for whatever the mortal woman could throw at her. And whatever it was Gilthoniel could handle it with ease because she was far older than her and very much wiser than, Margrethe altogether.

In fact, the princess and the hidden being inside her were more than prepared to kill the girl if need be. The demon Lilith had echoed in her mind quite clearly what horrific plans she had for Margrethe if, she was to step out of line. Images of running her elfin blade right through the damned girl's heart in a very public display. But it was Gilthoniel that scolded her to not think of such things. Nonetheless, the two souls were ready to attack if provoked.

Gilthoniel POV

As we ate our food, I noticed something different about the energy in the room. It was almost the joy and happiness in the room had slightly changed to something more the less dangerous looming from the Great Hall's many shadows. No one except for those who were more observant or from a world such as mine could sense it. It wasn't until the servant girl had come back from the kitchen that a strange smell had reached my nose a clear sign that something was truly wrong. The smell of bitter almonds that was faintly coming from her at first. It wasn't until she had crossed the room to where I was sitting that the smell had increased in its bitterness. 'Poison' I thought. My mind went into overdrive as my eyes carefully followed her movements as she proceeded to take the jar full of honey mead, pouring it into my cup, and was about to leave. However, my reflexes had caught her forearm as she was about to pull away from me. I could hear an audible gasp coming from her and the dead silence that followed after it.

I turned to look up who exactly this servant girl was and to no surprise it was Margrethe who standing behind me with the murder weapon in hand. I could feel the fear and regret coming off her for she knew that, she was caught in her attempt on my life.

"Gilthoniel?", asked Aslaug.
I didn't answer her question instead, I had gotten up from my chair and turned to Margrethe with nothing but coldness in my eyes. A skill that I had easily picked up from my father.
"Do you think it would be that easy?", I asked her.
She looked at the floor in fear. "I do not know what you are talking about Your Highness", she replied.
"There is one of many things that you do not do in my presence Margrethe. And one of them is lying. For I see every single thought that runs through that little thing in your head that you call a brain. And what I see is that you have intentions to get rid of me for your own personal gain", I laughed, "You stupid girl", I said. Taking a deep breath, I could feel Lilith's presence trying to make her way through to the forefront of my mind.
I reached for my cup, raising it to my nose to smell the bitter poison that was mixed with the sweet smell of honey. As I did so Lilith was already coming through by temporarily disabling the glimmer spell that was cast upon me in order to hide the dark marks that were bestowed upon me by my captors. I could smell her fear come in waves as I threw the poisonous cup to her feet. Making it contents splash on the floor as well as, her feet. Margrethe immediately jumped away from it like a coward that I knew very well she is. It wasn't until Lilith had fully come through as my eyes had turned from blue to blood red.

Aslaug POV

Just watching Gilthoniel transform into a being that I've only heard stories about was terrifying, to say the least. I remember years ago when she and I first met Gilthoniel had told me about the other version of herself. The one that she called Lilith. Lilith was pure evil and ruthless as opposed to the gentle yet methodical thinker that Gilthoniel was. And the only times that she had ever come to light was when Lilith perceived that her host was in danger. One of those moments was now when that idiot of a servant girl tried to poison her.

My hands tightened just a little when Lilith grabbed the girl by the throat, lifting her in the air like she was nothing. I looked around to see that my sons were terrified of the scene that was playing out in front of them. However, Ivar looked intrigued that the woman that he was in love with as were my other sons looked opposed to the beauty of what a normal, she-elf would look like.

"It has been too long since, I've seen the light. Now that I do, I don't regret waiting for so long to unleash my wrath on simple, stupid human like you!", Lilith smiled with excitement, "What should I do to you? Hm", said Lilith.
Margrethe was struggling hard as she used both of her hands to try prying off Lilith's hands-off. "Please...Please...don't kill me", she said with the air that managed to come through her lungs.
Lilith chuckled. "And why should I? You tried to kill my princess. Do you not think that we didn't see those your intense stares and those thoughts that you have in that air-filled head of yours? You've been planning her death since the moment the princes lost their interest in your whorish ways. I should kill you even for attempting to kill my Gilthoniel. However, that would be letting you off too easy and we want to see you suffer", she said.

It was from this point that Margrethe really struggled and begged my any of my sons to help her. However, none made a move because all were still stunned at the other version of Gilthoniel. I was tempted to intervene when Lilith had whispered words of black magic that had appeared as black smoke emanating through Lilith's palms. The dark magic immediately seeped into the servant girl's skin causing her veins to turn black for a few seconds before, they had disappeared. Margrethe the whole time was entranced by the shadowy prowess of the witch in front of her that when Lilith let go of her she dropped like a bag of potatoes. Lilith stared at the unconscious girl for a moment before she retreated into the depths of Gilthoniel's mind. As soon as the last black and red marks had disappeared from her face all the energy that was Gilthoniel's body had disappeared. Causing her to faint and if, it wasn't for the close proximity of Ubbe and Hvitserk she would have ended up on the floor. It was the blessing from the Gods that Hvitserk was quick enough to catch her before she hit the ground.

Sigurd had turned to look at me. "Mother What was that? Gilthoniel she..."
"I know", I sighed as my green eyes looked at each and every one of my son's faces. All who were still confused as to what they saw, "I've been hiding something for a long time now. One that I had promised to keep, however...considering what you all had witnessed...I think it is time", I said. All of them looked at me then, to the sleeping princess that was in their brother's arms.
