We pull into the store parking lot and Lilly turns the car off after stopping in the same spot as before. All the adults are leaning against their car while Alex sits on top the Wrangler and Chase sits on the hood with Ace leaning on it.
"Hey, Chase told us what happened." David says as we get out of the car.
"I'm sorry. Malcom's never going to change." Angel says softly as she pulls me into a hug.
"I know." I tell her as we pull away. "I just sorta lost it."
"You have a shorter temper now but you'll learn to control that too." David lightly pats me on the shoulder and I nod. "Chase also told us you controlled yourself well. Better than most newly turned."
"She had basically no problem controlling herself." Lilly says with a smile. I smile back.
"I'm proud of ya." David says. Hearing him say that he's proud of me is probably the second best thing I could hear at the moment.
"I am too." Lilly continues to smile at me causing my smile to grow bigger. And that's the first best.
"So. What are we doing now?" Alex asks.
"We're gonna go home and train." Mr. Marksen says. We all get in the cars and start back to the house.
"Later I have a way you can learn how to control your anger. Use it to help you." Lilly says.
"Yeah? What is this way?" I ask with a small smile.
"You'll see." She smirks. I love seeing her happy and that smirk. It's beautiful. She catches me staring and asks. "What?"
"Nothing." I look out the window.
We reach the house and everyone gets out of their cars.
"First thing we do; Ash, you get to pick your weapon. We have an armory you can choose from there or if you already know what you want, just let us know." Mr. Marksen tells me.
"Okay." I nod and he leads me and Lilly to the second building. We go through a door I didn't notice the first time here and Mr. Marksen taps on the wall across from the door in a pattern. The wall opens up slowly with a slight hissing sound and squeak.
"Wow. It's like Harry Potter or Men in Black." I say. Lilly chuckles.
"I think you just exposed your nerdy side behind that punk look." She says.
"Hey, I'm not that big a nerd. I just like Sci-Fi and magical stuff." I tell her. "Like vampires, for instance."
"Okay, you two. Ash, you can look at all the weapons in the room but. The one you pick needs to be small. Unnoticeable." Mr. Marksen says. I nod and look around. There are some ancient looking knives and swords on the walls with axes and bats. There aren't very many guns. Only a few small pistols and a couple revolvers next to a gun that looks like one you'd see in a Pirates of the Caribbean movie or Assassins' Creed game. I notice a table filled with small weapons like; brass knuckles, pocket knives, chains and... pens?
"Pens?" I question.
"Not just any pens. This one." Mr. Marksen picks up an orange pen. "If you click it, it grows into a baton." He clicks it and a small metal bar comes out of the end. He twists the handle end and it retracts to look like a pen again. He then sets it down and picks up a purple one. "This one shoots balls of VX."
"What's VX?" I ask.
"It's a type of synthetic poison that kills by interfering with the transmission of nerve messages between cells." He starts.
"Dad. English please." Lilly says.
"Okay. It basically kills by asphyxiation. It sorta messes with your nervous system and cells." He says. I nod. It's cool that he knows this stuff. He sets the pen down and grabs a red one. "This one has a chain." He clicks the pen and a chain comes out of the end. At the end of the chain there's a small sharp piece.
