Chapter 3

"Alex stop!" Chase yells as he and Ace hold Alex from attacking me. Alex is growling and trying to break the hold Ace and Chase have on his upper half. 

"Alex. Get yourself under control!" Lilly says sternly. Alex pays her no attention as I stand up carefully so I don't hurt my leg more. "We need to go. Now." She turns back to me. I just stare at her confused. "Come on." She takes my hand and puts my arm around her shoulder to help me walk. She's cold. Like she was just outside in winter for a few minutes. 

"How did Ace move that fast?" I ask as I hesitantly let Lilly help me away from the three others. 

"I'll explain when we get to my house." She says. Just then me and Lilly fall face first into the ground. I roll to stop anymore damage to myself. I look back to where I hit the ground and see Alex staring at me with hunger in his now bright red eyes. What the hell is happening?! Lilly steps between me and Alex as Chase and Ace grab him again. I blink and Lilly is in Alex' face with her hand holding his chin to look at her and the others hold him from getting to me. I can still hear what they're saying as I stand up.

"Alex, control the hunger. Don't let it control you." Lilly says in a soothing tone. His eyes go to an orange as he looks at Lilly. He stops struggling as his eyes go back to the brown from before. "Go. Calm down. I'm taking her to the house." With that Ace and Chase help Alex go into the woods and Lilly walks back my way.

"What the hell just happened?" I ask. I know after that the normal reaction is to be scared but I'm not scared. Just intrigued.

"We need to get you to my house and get your leg patched up properly. It's still bleeding." She says as she puts my arm back around her shoulder. 

"How do you know that?" I ask as I limp alongside her.

"I can smell it." She whispers.

"You can smell it?" I question.

"Like I said. I'll explain at my house." She says avoiding looking at me.

"Okay, will you at least tell me how long we're going to take?" I ask.

"Not long. You like speed, right?" She asks.

"Yeah, why?" I ask before she wraps my arms around her as she puts me on her back.

"Hold on." She says. I lift my legs up further being careful of my right one. In a less than a second Lilly takes off running. The wind hits my face and all the trees around us turn into a blur as Lilly carries me through the forest. The wind blows Lilly's scent into my face. She smells like fresh cut grass and dirt. It's nice.

Am I dreaming? Dying? 

Suddenly I'm in the passenger seat of Lilly's car. Lilly gets in the driver's seat and turns the key in the ignition. Before I know it we're driving down the road at 85 to 90 miles an hour. 

"Where exactly is your house?" I ask as we turn onto a dirt road.

"Not in town. It's hidden." Lilly answers. I nod and she continues speeding down the road. After a few minutes we pull down a long driveway. Lilly slows down as a big pale blue house comes into view. It has a smaller porch in the middle of the house where the double doors are.

I can see it has two stories and as we get closer I can see one other house but this one is white and has one story. It's more behind the first house. As the car stops in front of the pale blue house I can see a few people around the property and a few cars around us. There's a silver Spyder next to us and a black Jeep Wrangler on the other side with a couple pickup trucks around. I see a few other types of cars around too. Lilly gets out and before I can open the door she opens it for me. She grabs my arm and helps me out of the car. A man comes out of the house as Lilly helps me to the steps.
