Chapter 9

I'm sitting in the living room of Lilly's house with that TV on the news channel because... Well. I don't really know. 

Lilly is in the kitchen with her dad. I don't know what they're doing but I don't want to intrude so I sit. Listening to the news, telling me what the weather will be like. 

It's so boring I think I'll fall asleep.

Suddenly it changes to 'breaking news'

"I am currently standing at the Lakewell Park as a brutal fight is right behind me, here." I lean forward as the news reporter speaks. "It appears to be two men brutally attacking the civilians at the park. I warn you now that what you are about to see is disturbing and you may want to look away." The camera goes to Markas and another man punching and kicking innocent people and police officers who try to stop them.

"Guys, get in here!" I call to Lilly and anyone who can hear me as I stand up. Lilly and her father come into the room seeing the screen.

"You two stay here with Chase and the others. I'll get a group and stop them." Mr. Marksen says.

"But-" I start.

"You guys need to stay safe for now." Before we can protest further the man is gone. Lilly and I turn back to the TV and in moments we see Lilly's father with a few others, coming from the forest and doing everything they can to stop the other vampires from hurting more people.

“Someone needs to stop that camera so people don’t see this. And get those people to safety.” Lilly says. We look at each other.

“Lets go.” We say in unison and immediately make our way to the park. We don’t bother to get in cars because running would take less time and I follow Lilly through the forest until we reach the edge of the park. The people are watching the vampires fight. Lilly's father and the others are doing their best to look human but Markas and the other guy seem to be trying to make them look abnormal.

“Get those people out of here and break the camera or something but. Do not let them stay here.” Lilly orders. I nod and we go in different directions. She goes to help with the attackers as I run in a human speed to the crowd of bystanders. Some have their phones out to record it.

“DON’T YOU SEE WHAT’S HAPPENING?! GET BACK!” I yell as I approach them. They don’t move and the cameraman keeps the camera pointed to the fight as the reporter speaks into her microphone. Damn, these people are desperate for entertainment. I walk behind a tree before speeding to break the phones and the camera and go back to the tree to make it seem as though I didn’t do anything. “GO! Get out of here!!” I yell as I wave my hands to get them away. The crowd doesn’t move. They just look around confused about what happened to all their devices. 

“ARE YOU ALL SO DESPERATE FOR ENTERTAINMENT!?! GO LIVE YOUR LIFE, STOP WATCHING THIS! IF YOU WANT WATCH A FIGHT WATCH WWE OR SOMETHING!!” I yell again. Again, it doesn’t work so I go to the nearest wall and hide before taking them one-by-one to a different location. 

I get back to the park after everyone is taken somewhere else. Now, there are more vampires fighting each other. I don’t see Markas or the other guy that was fighting before but now there are a bunch of vampires fighting Lilly, her father and the vampires Mr. Marksen brought.

 I see Lilly fighting two vampires at once and decide to help her. I punch the vampire about to hit her from behind and we fight them side-by-side.

“Are the people safe?” She asks when the men are on the grass, out cold. 

“Yeah. Put ‘em somewhere else.” She nods and looks to the others. All the attackers are gone and the ones with us are disappearing through the trees. Mr. Marksen is walking towards us.
