I’m in an unfamiliar cement room. How did I get here? I was just in Lilly's bedroom. I look around and immediately get to my feet as I see my mom in shackles chained to the cement wall with ripped and bloodied clothes. I can see cuts and bruises all over her. She’s so weak she can’t keep her head up. I run over to her but as soon as I get to her a door I hadn’t noticed before opens with the sound of metal scraping cement as 2 people dressed in all black hoodies and pants walk through. I see Lilly in shackles looking pissed as they are on either side of her. It looks like the shackles are hurting her wrists. I can see red all around the cuffs. The people in black throw her to the cement in front of them and she doesn’t let out even a grunt.
“Damon wants you dead but, we want to have a little fun first.” One of the hooded people says in a deeper voice.
“Yeah.” The other agrees in a slightly less deep voice.
I don’t think it’s going to be fun for anyone but them. I suddenly hear my mom say something.
“Don’t.” Is all she can manage in the weak state she’s in.
“We do what we want!” The second hood snaps. I see the first hood reach in his pocket and pull out a small whip. Oh shit. I try to move so I can stop him but something is holding my body still. All I can do is move my head and just barely.
“This will be painful for you but fun for us.” The hood with the whip says. He brings his hand up with the whip. Right as I hear the whip make contact with Lilly I snap awake.
“NOO!!!” I yell out as I sit straight up out of breathe.
“Ash?” I hear Lilly ask as she comes to sit next to me. I Look at her and before I stop myself I grab her wrists to check that they aren’t shackled or hurt in any way. “What are you doing?” She asks. Once I see that she’s fine I hug her. I can’t stop myself from hugging her. “What happened?” She asks.
“Just a bad dream.” I sigh and let her go.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
“Mom- she was chained. Too weak to say more than a single word. They- they- were going to- to hurt you.” My voice breaks and I feel tears form in my eyes and before I can stop them they roll down my face. Lilly wraps her arms around me.
“It’s okay. You’re okay. I’m okay and I know that your mom will be okay.” She says calmingly. Before I know it I’m back to sleep but this time it’s just a peaceful sleep.
When I wake up again I can feel something on my chest. I yawn and look to see Lilly peacefully sleeping with her head on my chest and her arm lightly on my stomach while the rest of her is laying right next to me.
I don’t know why but I like waking up to this. Oh no. I do like Lilly. More than I should. I look to the side of the little bed I made and see that my watch reads 8:30. We should probably get up. I don’t want to wake Lilly though.
I reluctantly try to get up without waking Lilly but she tightens her grip and I stop moving. Now what? Should I wake her up? This feels wrong. I attempt to move again but stop as Lilly pulls me closer to her and speaks.
“Don’t go.” She whispers. Is she actually talking to me or is something happening in a dream? I lay still and wait. I don’t know what I’m waiting for but I wait anyway. After a few minutes I hear my stomach growl. We should both eat. I lightly shake Lilly to wake her up. She lifts her head and yawns as she rubs her eyes.
“Sorry to wake you, I just thought we should get up and eat since it’s almost 9.” I say as she turns to look at me. I see her cheeks turn a light shade of red as she realizes she was sleeping on my chest.
