All I can see is white space. I look around but it’s all just plain white. Until a blurry figure starts coming towards me from a distance. As the figure gets closer it gets less blurry. Once the figure gets close enough I notice that the figure is Lilly. She stops when her she gets to be less than a foot away from me. I notice that she’s wearing an absolutely stunning red sundress. She smiles and starts leaning closer to me. Her red heels make her only a small bit shorter than me. Right when she’s an inch from me, I wake up in Lilly's bed. She’s laying with her head on my shoulder and her arm wrapped around my stomach. Her legs are lying on top of mine.

I could get used to waking up like this. Wait. This feels kind of wrong. She’s sleeping. But, what was that dream? Why did I dream about Lilly? We’re just friends.

I notice Lilly's curtains are open letting my see that it’s starting to snow. It is the end of November. I thought the snow would’ve come sooner. I look at Lilly's alarm clock on her bedside table. 10 on the dot. Luckily it’s sunday. Ugh, we have to go to school tomorrow. I feel Lilly move and look back to her. She lifts her head and yawns while rubbing her eyes.

“G’morning.” I say with a smile. She realizes she was laying on me again and I notice her face turn the same shade of red as yesterday.

“Good morning.” She says trying to stay cool. Again.

“It’s snowing.” I inform her. She smiles.

“You know what that means?” She asks.

“What?” I question.

“Ice skating!” She cheers and I laugh at her excitement. She’s so cute. Nope. Nope. Nope. Just friends. That’s all. “Come on!” She starts dragging me out of the bed. “Get dressed and put on something warm.” She orders.

“Okay, okay. Chill.” I say while laughing at how excited she is for the snow. I grab some jeans and a black and grey, striped shirt. I also grab my jean jacket and my stuff from the end table. I go to the bathroom to shower and brush my teeth before getting dressed. I go back to Lilly's room and pull my black beanie on over my hair. After barely 2 minutes Lilly bursts in the room dressed in jeans and a small coat with a grey hat.

“Lets go!” She orders and drags me out to the living room where everyone else is, too. We all put our shoes on and pile into two cars. Once we’re in the car I notice that Spenser is here too.

“Is this a tradition or something?” I ask.

“Kinda.” Alex says.

“Every year on the first snowfall we go ice skating.” Chase says.

“And Lilly goes nuts.” Ace chips in causing all of us to laugh.

“I love ice skating.” Lilly defends herself.

“I’ve never been ice skating.” I admit.

“What?” Everyone asks in unison.

“There isn’t an ice rink in Mirstone and it never got cold enough to freeze any of the lakes or ponds or anything.” I tell them.

“You are definitely gonna learn.” Lilly tells me.  I nod and we continue to follow the adults in the first car. When we park at the ice rink everyone gets out of the cars and we go inside. We rent skates and everyone starts skating. Lilly stays with me to help me learn. “Have you ever went roller skating?” She asks.

“Yeah, I always sucked.” I tell her as we step on the ice. The others are on the ice, skating around the big space.

“Well, it’s kinda like that. Just on ice.” She smiles. I nod and try skating around the edge of the rink. Lilly skates backwards in front of me.

“Are you trying to show off?” I ask.

“No. I’m trying to teach you to skate.” She smiles. After a little of skating around the edges Lilly stops in front of me making me stop. “Okay, now you have to go away from the edge.” She says.

“I think I’m good here.” I smile.

“Nope.” She grabs my hand. “You are coming away from the edge.” She drags me to the middle of the ice and stops. “Come on.” I smile and we start skating some. I keep wobbling sometimes.

“Shit.” I say as my foot slips and I almost fall before Lilly pulls me back up.

“You okay?” She asks as we both laugh lightly.

“Yup.” I tell her. We talk and skate around. I’m starting to get the hang of this.

“You learn quickly.” Lilly says.

“I guess so.” I smile back. Suddenly some kid whips by us barely missing me. The force of him going by so fast knocks me off balance and I fall on my ass.

“That didn’t last long.” Lilly laughs at me.

“Shut up.” I chuckle as I get up with a smile. We all skate for hours until all the adults gather us to leave. I look at my watch and it’s already 7.

“You guys have fun?” Angel asks as she walks with David.

“Yeah.” We all say at once.

“Good. That’s why we come.” Mr. Marksen smiles. We all get back into the cars and go back home. When we get there Spenser eats normal food while the rest of us get drinks. Lilly pulls me to the side when we’re done.

“Want to see the best view in town?” She asks with a smile.

“Yeah.” I smile back at her. She takes my hand and leads me outside.

“Can you keep up?” She smirks.

“Am I gonna have to?” I ask. She nods before taking off into the forest. I run after her and follow her until she stops at the top of the mountain. We’re standing on a small ledge letting us see the whole town and part of the next town over as the sun sets. It’s beautiful. “Wow.” Is all I say.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?”

“It’s amazing.” I say. Almost as amazing as you. Stop!! This is so weird!! Lilly sits on the edge and I sit next to her.

“This view never gets old.” She says quietly. I can’t help but look at her to see her beautiful smile looking at me.

I think I’m in love. I’m not going to fight it anymore.

“I agree.” I smile. She looks back at the view and leans her head on my shoulder. I look back out to the land. We sit for a while.

“Ash?” I hear Lilly ask.

“Yeah?”

“What do you think love feels like?” Why would she ask me that?

“Caring for someone no matter what, always having them on your mind, not being able to shake thoughts of them.” I say. “Always being there for them and helping as much as you can.”

“I think I’m in love.” She says quietly. Shit.

“With who?” I ask. She looks up into my eyes. I can’t help but get lost in her ocean blue eyes.

“You.” She whispers. I can’t help but smile. I glance at her lips and notice her lean in slightly. I lean in and before I know it, our lips are less than an inch apart from each others. I just lean in a little more and close my eyes as I feel her soft lips against mine. It feels as if the world around us is slowing down at this moment. Her lips send fire through my entire body. She pulls away and we look into each other's eyes.

“I love you too.” I smile. She smiles too and I can’t believe this is really happening. “Can I kiss you again?” I ask. Lilly nods and we both lean in for the kiss. Best day ever.

We pull away. “By far the best day of my life.” I smile.

“Yeah.” She agrees. We continue to sit in silence looking at the land around us. I lean back and look at the stars with my hand behind my head. Lilly leans back and lays her head next to my shoulder. We stare at the stars in silence. We don’t need to talk because we’re both comfortable. I slowly drift off to sleep.
