Vince was helping me bring my bag up the steps because I ran up without it, looking for Hannah. She found me and jumped up, wrapping her legs and arms around me. I squeezed her and giggled at how crazy she was.

Vince dropped my bag on the floor and wait for me to be finished so he could say goodbye. He hugged me gently and thanked me for coming. I gave him a peace sign as he walked out of the apartment.

"I'll see you around," Vince said.

The door closed behind him and the silence it brought with it didn't last.

"Tell me everything that happened!" Hannah squealed, dragging me towards the couch.

I went over the trip in so much detail I felt like I was reliving it. Hannah listened closely, nodding along as I talked.

When I finished, she asked, "So what are you going to do?"

"Nothing. I just don't think it'll work."

"I think, in my honest opinion, you should try it and see. You won't know until you do," Hannah recommended.

"Han, that's a terrible idea. And, I'm supposed to be going on a date with David, who seems great."

"You don't know if it will work with Vince, so if it doesn't you can focus on David. Just see how it goes." She shrugged.

"That feels wrong."

"I don't like watching Julian with other women, but if I just act like they don't exist, things work just fine."

I called David to schedule our date and after I did I chewed my fingernails, unsure of calling Vince. I decided against it. Instead, I got ready and made my hair look as nice as it possibly could. I also did my best to cover up the hickies all over my body.

David met me at a restaurant and we were sat outside. The restaurant had this beautiful lake next to it, a single swan swimming in the middle. We sat at the table before we started talking. I adored his southern accent and found myself trying to make him talk so I could listen to it more.

"I couldn't believe they managed to flip the car a second time! I had just finished getting it back upright!" He laughed.

I laughed with him, his eyes squinting as he did.

"Rhia?"

I turned around and felt my laughter cease. Vince looked over me with confusion on his face.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"I have an interview," He answered.

David stood, shaking Vince's hand. I shook myself out of my shock and introduced them.

"David, this is my friend Vince."

Vince said he would see us later, sitting down with a woman with a camera crew following her.

"How do you two know each other?" David asked.

"We met in the hospital. I was actually sneaking my stupid friend out and we ran into him," I laughed at the memory.

"Why were you sneaking her out?"

"She was on drugs that would've gotten her arrested," I admitted.

"You know doctors don't give a shit right?"

I shook my head no, "You're kidding."

"I'm an EMT and we tell people we won't call the cops if they tell us what they're on because they could die if we don't know. We just want to make sure they're alright, we could care less what drugs they're on."
