"I feel disconnected," she said, softly as she stared, aimlessly, "almost... lost,"

"I have a similar feeling. Like a small void in my chest. Something not quite right. Like the pieces don't fit together anymore," Ben said, sitting down.

"It's strange," she said, as a single tear escaped from her eye, "On Jakku there was nothing. Nobody. Just me. But now, I'm back here... I've never felt so alone," she whispered, letting her head fall into her hands.

She couldn't see him. He couldn't see her. But, somehow they could feel each other. Hear each other.

"You're not alone," he said, soft but quickly, "I'll never let that happen to you again,"

There was silence for a while. If she closed her eyes, she could hear his breath near her. She could feel his presence close by, though it couldn't be further away.

"Come back to me," she whispered, holding her hand out as if hoping she would come into contact with him, her eyes closed tightly.

"No... you come back to me. It was you who left. I'd have never-" he stopped himself. For some reason, he felt completely calm around her. Something he didn't experience often, if ever. To be completely trusting in a person.

"Left? Of course you wouldn't have. I doubt you'll ever leave that ship. Snoke has too tight a hold of you,"

"I'd never have left you. Snoke doesn't control me, I make my own decisions,"

"Liar. I've seen inside your mind. I've seen the hold he has on you. You'd never disobey him. Never escape. Not even for-"

"Don't." he snapped, knowing what she was going to say.

"Not even for your mother," she said, finishing her sentence with a bitter sting but gentle tone.

He stayed quiet, trying to control himself.

"I'd have left for you," he said, softly, "If I could have. But I'm too close now, Rey. I've come to far to leave it all behind-"

"It's never too late, Ben. You still have a choice,"

"Just stop!" he shouted and sighed when he sensed her frustration increase significantly, "You wouldn't understand,"

With those words, he left her.

"So much for never letting me feel alone," she sighed, standing up from her crossed legged position on the floor and walking out of the room.

Her mind wandered as she walked around the ship. She felt the same as she did before she conversed with Kylo. She felt the familiar disconnected sensation, lingering over her like a cloud. She thought, perhaps it was the lack of training rather than the lack of a master. The lack of movement rather than the lack of company. Specific company. She was so lost in thought, she barely noticed the people in front of her.

"General!" she exclaimed as she almost walked into her, "My greatest apologies," she said, straitening her spine and putting her hands behind her back.

"No need to apologise," she smiled warmly, "If you don't mind me saying, you haven't seemed yourself since your return. Is everything okay?"

"Fine," she smiled weakly.

"I'm sorry to say, you don't have me convinced," she said, concern sincere in her voice.

"I'm starting to think I made a mistake leaving Master Luke so soon,"

"Perhaps," she put her hand on Rey's arm, "but you're here now, and we need you to be focused. If you need a place to train, there's an available space on the South side of the ship. Take anything you need," she smiled.

"Thank you, General," she grinned, happy to have a place of therapy, but her smile quickly fell, "You feel guilty... why?" Leia looked shocked, "I didn't mean to impose. It's hard for me to control sometimes,"

"My guilt is a burden you shouldn't have to bear," she said, softly, before turning to walk away.

"He's not a bad man, General. He misses you," Leia froze, before continuing her steps without a single sign of pain, though she knew Rey felt it.

Rey continued walking forwards, and looked to the ground, shaking her head. Her upset only deepened when she walked into someone else.

"I'm so sorry, I don't know what's- Finn" she sighed with relief when she looked up and saw her friend. She wrapped her arms round his waist, and held him close to her. He was shocked at her sudden outburst of emotion. It was rare for her to be so open to interaction. He wrapped his arms round her shoulders, holding her to his chest as she took slow, deep breaths and tried to calm herself down.

"Can you help me train?" she asked,  with her head nestled into his chest.

"Sure. Whatever you need," he said, smiling slightly. She was finally opening up to him. Something he had hoped for, for a long time now.

She took his hand, and they walked to the south side of the ship to begin her training.
