Every time Rey swung her saber, she blocked out his memory a little more. It was a strange sort of therapy. But today, she decided it was time to go beyond light sabers. It was time to start training in the force again, and in short, she was terrified.
"Sit with me," she requested, and Finn did as she asked, "I need to start training in the force again which means, I'm going to try and read your mind. Is that okay?"
"If that's what you need,"
She closed her eyes and her nose twitched a little, a nervous habit, easily gaining access to Finn's mind. It was much easier than... His mind wasn't as resistant. He didn't know how to keep her out. It wasn't a temple with walls as high as mountains, just a cottage with a fence. She chuckled a little as she stumbled across a certain memory.
"What?" he asked, nervous.
"You're so oblivious," she shook her head.
"To what exactly?" he smiled, pretending to be offended.
"Your feelings. I thought it was obvious you were in love, but apparently you don't see it," she smirked.
"Love?" he choked, "With who?"
"Poe of course,"
He sighed, slightly relieved but also confused, "Poe? Rey I'm not-"
"Of course you're not," she smirked, sarcastically shaking her head. She winked, knowing it would frustrate him further as she giggled. She suddenly felt guilty. She was laughing at something Finn seemed to be vulnerable about, "Sorry. I'm being insensitive," she said soft, still wearing a small smile upon her lips.
"You ever been in love?" he asked her, wanting advice.
"Once. Well, not really but... it's complicated,"
"It always is," he sighed, resting his elbows on his knees and his head on his knuckles, "Who was yours?"
"Someone back on Jakku. His name was Ben," she felt a sting in her chest as she said the name, "I didn't realise how I felt until it was too late." she said, looking at the ground.
There was an awkward pause, "what was he like?"
"Kind. Hot- headed but, kind. Impulsive," she laughed remembering his outbursts, "conflicted," her smile fell.
"About what?"
"He wanted to continue his Grandfather's-" she realised she was revealing too much, "business but, his parents wanted more for him than that. He told me he wanted to leave with me, but he was too far in with the business," she felt her eyes start to sting a little, "I didn't think I'd be able to feel the way he made me feel,"
"Interesting," she heard a different voice, and looked up terrified. As soon as she saw him, she stood and stumbled backwards, falling off balance back onto the floor.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, her eyes filled with fear.
"You seem scared, why? You think I came here to hurt you?"
"Rey?" Finn asked, concerned for his friend who was talking to herself.
"Finn, get behind me," she said, igniting her saber.
"So quick to violence. I thought Luke would have taught you better etiquette," he spat.
"I'm not with Luke,"
"Interesting," he said, "so if I locate you... I locate the resistance base?"
A breath caught in Rey's throat, "why are you here?" she said, stern, "this isn't like you,"
