Luna had ran to the village as fast her legs could carry her. Trading her detailed dress for a duller one. Even though everyone knew she was a Princess, she didn't want them to think of her higher. She was still a village girl.
Collin had turned around when he heard his name being called to be greeted by Luna's warm grip. A smile suppressed his lips.
"Luny you came back!" He whispered in her hair. Using her nickname.
"I can't just leave you Collin you know that." She replied laughing ever so slightly. "Anyways, I met him today." She said happily.
He already knew who. Gavin. His body filled with envy. He didn't ever find it fair that he could marry her and no one else. Collin loved Luna. Although when she was taken to the palace he knew he would never have a chance. "Oh really? How is he?" Was all he could say as he hid his feelings for this girl.
"He's amazing Collin! He didn't care that I liked combat or anything! I think he might be good for me. The council choose the right people." She said pulling away from the long lasting hug.
The smile she wore upon her face made Collin melt. He was happy for her. If the girl he loved was happy. He was too.
"We'll see in a few years. When you marry him things might change." He spoke softly. Not wanting to crush her.
She nodded. Looking at the village behind Collin. How she missed this place. This place of home with her brothers. And parents. With Collin. She longed for it. When she came she was filled with glee. Being out of the walls, the gates. Here she was free.
"Collin. . ." She started. Not quite ready to finish what she had to say. So he looked at her. Hoping what she said was something good.
"Luny. What?" He asked. Slight chuckle covering his words.
"Do you think he'll love me? Desire thinks so. But I still think otherwise." She dropped her head down. Staring at the littered street.
He took hold of her chin forcing her to look at him. Dead in the eye. "If he doesn't, I'll knock the sense into him. Anyone not to love you is awful. Your perfect Luna." He said to her. Hoping she'd understand.
She did. All to well. So she nodded and thanked him. "I better go. Desire might get mad at me. Bye Collin. I'll try to get out again." She said hugging him again.
He squeezed her in his arms. A tear nearly slipping from his eyes. "Promise?" He asked voice breaking slightly.
"I promise." Her words were venom hitting him in shock.
Luna never broke her promises.
