She did not cry when she had arrived in her room. Luna had torn apart the fabric that poisoned her skin instead. Ripping the red piece, by piece, and laying it atop the floor. Screaming.
Royal Guard and Desire had rushed after her. Knocking on her door. Asking her, begging her to let then in. She screamed, refusing the pleads.
"Leave me! All of you!" She was still tearing her dress apart. Letting the soft fabric fall. Letting her tears soak it. As now she could not hold it back. It poured like a mighty river.
"Princess? Please. . ." Gavin's voice broke through the door. Full of annoyance, and anger, and hope. Of care.
"Gavin, I'm not coming out." She spoke clearly. Heading to her vast closest. Grabbing her brown, old, torn dress. The village dress.
She put it on. Smiling. "To the village, to home." She whispered to herself. Pulling a small bag around her shoulder. Filling it with coins, her brush, her dagger. Filling it with the utter most sense of hope.
The sudden bit of rain hit her windowsill. Dripping slowly, whispering softly. Taunting her more then ever. She walked to it. Unlocked it slowly. Feeling rain kiss her ivory skin.
"You are a Princess! You have a life here. A duty to fulfill for your people!" Desire screamed knowing what rash decision Luna was making. She was pounding on the door. Pushing all her body weight against it. Crying in the slightest.
"I am not a Princess Desire! I do not wish to marry a man a met a mere day ago, to help my people," Gavin was still there. Listening. At this his heart broke, she did not love him. Yet. "I have NEVER been royalty! I am still a village girl! One whom loves her family, and Collin. Not these iron gates! Or royal balls, or royal men! And I certainly do not like random men wishing for my company! I am more then this! I have respect in the village!" Luna screamed. They cringe in the pain of her voice, at the main they all felt at her sudden burst of words and emotion.
The words that hit them all like her own dagger. She was no longer theirs. The Council chose incorrectly. As they always did. Although this one was a bigger mistake. The Princess was running away because of the Councils lack of judgement.
Luna took a step into the night. Looking at the burning brightness of the moon. So happy for its light. For the freedom it had in this world.
She walked onto her bedrooms roof. And jumped. Tumbling to the earthy ground. Dirt and grass weaving into her hair. Coloring her cloths with earthly tones and smells.
While looking back Luna saw they had gotten through her door. Gavin was first to rush in. Searching frantically.
Looking for the copper haired girl. Seeing her no where. He looked out the wide window and saw her silhouette against the light. Saw her shadowy dress mingle with the wind. Her hair twirling with a sudden gust. He saw what he longed for. A girl to at last enjoy his company. A girl to finally see him as himself. Not as the royal mess he truly was.
She looked back him and waved. He waved back mouthing a quick 'please don't go.' Yet all she did was turn away from him. Looking at the light the village shed. At the small outline of houses in the mere distance.
Then like she had before, she ran. Into the village. As fast her legs could manage. Leaving any royal matter behind her.
