Luna spent most of her time locked away in the library. Reading about the magic used. Learning war tactics for when she would fight.
No one knocked on the oak door. Or came to check on her. They knew it was for the better. She had to think this through alone.
It was not for the better. Her ragged dress from the village stay on her. Her hair a wild heap of mahogany. Sapphire eyes growing dull with fatigue and worry. Waist growing smaller and smaller from lack of nutrition. She was turning into a mess.
Most did not know this. They thought she was perfectly fine in that room. That she was trying to prepare for what was to come. Although in all honesty, she was learning how to keep them all alive. This was her new obsession.
She'd stay up late into the night. Reading with the hint of candle light. Smelling it burn as she skimmed page after page. Absorbing the knowledge.
Somedays she'd whisper the spells, chant the words like they held life. Other days she'd cry and scream. Throw books at the wall screaming this was all going down in flames. This was all a mistake, they'd burn. Yet not a single person could hear her. The walls to thick to carry a simple scream.
Collin and Gavin would stop and listen to her talk to herself sometimes. Even used a spell to see through the wall.
On the day it worked, they were modified. She was broken. Tears streaming her face. Clothes now baggy over her body. She was losing herself over war. Dying on the inside.
They broke the door down and rushed to her. Picking up her light and fragile body. Letting a tear slip from them. The girl they knew who was just so strong to the Council, was breaking.
"Luna? Luna are you alright?" Gavin asked her as Collin held her, walking to her room.
"Let me go. J-just leave me be." She hiccuped out. Wanting to stay in her vast library. Not wanting to see the outside world that must have been thrown into chaos.
"No Luna. We can't do that. You need to be healed."
"No. I don't. I'm fine." Her eyes closed. I cry to much. She thought.
"You are not fine! I can feel your ribs." Collin protested.
They rushed her into her room and lay her on her bed. Watching her hair spill around her. A soft wine escaped her.
"See you're not fine. Let us heal you Hun. Please?" Gavin sat next to her, grabbing tightly onto her hand. "The war is hurting you."
He nodded at Collin. Telling him it was time to do the healers spell.
Collin placed his hands just between her hip and rip cage. "Luny you get hurt way to much." He whispered before moving onto the spell. "Heal what has been broke before. Heal the softer soul. Heal the breaking piece before me back into its whole."
A whiter light formed around them. Her body started healing. Filling out her weight. Fixing her weak state.
"See, all better! Not to bad was it?" Gavin said as she lifted up her head. Placing it on his chest.
"I hate both of you. And this war." She whispered.
"That's alright. Just sleep. Okay?" Gavin laid down next to her, wrapping his arms around her.
She mumbled a quick 'yeah' and lay. Closing her eyes. Feeling the effects of a healers magic.
"Don't let this get to you. Please."
It already had. She was weighted down with war.
