I pulled into the driveway and found dad's cruiser in the driveway.
That's strange, he's suppose to be at work. Maybe he got off early. I walked inside, trying to be careful again.
"I'm home." I called out, putting my purse down.
I found dad in the kitchen, sitting down, looking at the newspaper. He looked up at me.
"Hey, Maya." Charlie said.
"Hey, dad." I said as I started on lunch.
"So how was your day?" Charlie asked.
"Good." I answered as I took out a beer and placed it in front of him.
"Really? What's going on with you?" He asked.
I turned and looked at him. He was never this conversational.
"Nothing." I answered.
"Is that it?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.
"Uh, yeah." I replied.
"Really, well, that's strange, let me tell you about the most interesting news I heard today... so I ran into Joy Ateara and she congratulated me on my daughter being pregnant. At first I was confused, I told her it's too soon for Bella to be pregnant, she just got married and Joy corrected me and said that Quil told her that you're pregnant." He said.
I stopped breathing. Oh no!
"Dad, I can explain-"
"You sure as hell better explain! What did I tell you, Maya? Whose is it?" He asked, turning red in the face.
"Dad, please calm down." I said.
"Maya, whose the father of your baby?" He asked.
"Dad... please promise me that you won't do anything stupid." I said.
