"Why didn't you tell me?" Billy asked as I laid on the hospital bed in the Cullens' house.

Billy had found me unconscious at home, burning up and quickly brought me to Carlisle.

I rolled my eyes.

"Stop rolling your eyes." Billy said.

I pursed my lips.

"When would I have find the time to tell you? Huh?You're busy with the tribe and the pack. When you come home, I'm already asleep and when I wake up you're already gone. Then you have the nerve to hide what's going on with my sister and niece from me for weeks and now you're asking me why I didn't tell you. Why didn't you tell me, Billy?" I asked, glaring at him.

He glared back at me.

"What can you do in your condition?" Billy replied.

"Stop saying condition. I'm pregnant not disabled, you idiot! You all are idiots!" I exclaimed as I felt a sharp pain in my back.

I groaned as I clenched my stomach.

Billy rushed over to me and grabbed me.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"Let go of me. Why is it so hot in here?" I asked.

"Shit! Maya, you're shaking." He answered as Carlisle rushed into the room.

"Maya, I need you to calm down." Carlisle said.

"Your stench is killing me." I said, glaring at Carlisle.

"Do you think she's going to phase?" Carlisle asked Billy.

"I think so but something feels different about her." Billy answered.

Bella walked in.

"Bella, take me outside please." I said as she came beside me and grabbed my arm.

"I got you." Bella said as she picked up and raced down the stairs and out of the house to the backyard.

I breathed in the fresh and cold air. I felt myself relax a little bit but I still felt like my bones were going to break.

"Hold me." I said.

"But I'm stink." Bella said.

I knew vampires were cold and Bella was the only one who didn't smell to me so I was going to take advantage of her body's coldness.

I sighed.

"Shut up and hug me." I said.

"You're really trying not to phase." Bella said as I closed my eyes.

"I don't know what could happen to the babies if I do." I said, quietly.

Bella nodded.

I sighed.

"Bella, I need you to take me home." I said, realizing if I stay in a house filled with vampires that I may actually phase.

"Yeah,,I think it's best that you're not here." She said as she was about to pick me up, Eleazar came towards us, stopping us from moving.

"Do the wolves have gifts?" Eleazar asked.

I looked at him, strangely.

"No." I answered.

"Why do you ask, Eleazar?" Bella asked.

Edward came outside and looked at me.

"I can't read your mind." Edward said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Your father must have a power, if you both have similar powers." Eleazar answered.

"Similar powers?" I asked.

"Yes, Bella and you inherited your powers from your father." Eleazar answered.

"I always found myself unable to fully read Charlie's mind, but I dismissed it very quickly, believing that he was just slow on the mind." Edward said.

"Charlie, maybe capable of warding off mental powers, though your blockage is very rudimentary and undeveloped compared to Bella's." Eleazar said.

Bella smiled.

"Like father, like daughters." Jacob said.

"That maybe another part of his gift, where he makes others feel both physically and mentally dismissive of him and he also has a unique tracking ability." Eleazar said.

"But what does that have to do with me?" I asked.

"Your power seems to be a combination of both Charlie and Bella's but unlike you've always been in control of it. You pick and choose when to let your shield up and down but it seems that you can communicate with the wolves while they are in their other form." Eleazar answered.

Bella gasped.

"You can do that?" Bella asked.

"Yeah, I just thought it had to do with the fact that I'm close to phasing." I answered.

"No, it's your power. And I don't think you're just phasing. I think your gaining powers." Eleazar said.

"Shit. Just what I need." I said.
