Smilodon (the sabre tooth) was a prehistoric cat that lived in North America. It had two sabre teeth, which were fragile and could break easily. They competed with the terror birds(which it turns out gastornis was not a member of) , and eventually drove them extinct, when they invaded South America. It went extinct when it's prey started disappearing.
