a/n: Listen to this song thanks. I legit replayed it throughout writing this chapter. The story is coming to an end y'all! But don't worry, this isn't the last of Teal and Kati... or at least not the end of dialogue stories! (peanutbicycles thank you for being my inspiration/muse -- btw this chapter was based loosely on us but yknow) 💕
Teal Seabren
I'm picking you up at 7. We're gonna hop onto a train and go for an awesome retro-themed date. We're going to the ice skating rink and we're gonna watch a movie. I'll drop you back home at precisely 12 am after eating ice cream and hot dogs at the fair near your house. I've got roses. You ready?

Kati Lopez ran to the mirror, her heart racing. Teal had told her his name the night before, promising to take her out.
"LUCIA!!! ¡Necesito tu ayuda! This dress!?"
♥︎
Teal Seabren messed with his wavy red hair. His fingers shook, a smile creeping up on his face. The scars that lined his forearms were long gone, replaced by the warmth and joy of Kati Lopez. A grin appeared as he threw on a suit jacket.
"I'm actually taking her out. Holy shit."
♦︎
Teal Seabren. Kati knew the boy, but had only seen him occasionally in the halls. After all, he was a year above her. Same for Teal, he'd never really payed much attention to Kati. So when Kati saw Teal, she didn't know what she'd expect. Her hair was let down loose, curled and wavy. She was wearing a red flowy spaghetti strap dress with a white shirt underneath.
"Teal." She breathed. The boy standing in front of her was holding roses. Lots of them, all wrapped up in a little bouquet. His ginger hair was messy, paired with him wearing a suit jacket, holding a hoodie.
"Kati. Hi. These are for you." He extended his hands to give her the flowers and the hoodie.
"Y-your hoodie? Why?"
"W-well. It's a cliche to trade hoodies for scrunchies. Thought you'd like it." He rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
Kati smiled. "Of course I do. Here's a scrunchie. Now we're even."
"¡No me dijiste que el chico estaba aquí, Kati, pastel de miel! Hello! Hello! I'm Luciá." Lucia ran over, screaming about how Kati hadn't warned her that Teal was here.
"Good evening, Miss Lopez. Nice to meet you. I'll have her home promptly by the stroke of midnight."
Lucia waved her hand. "¡No seas tan estúpido! You're going to have her home no earlier than 2 am or you'll never see her again! Now go, go, little ones! Have fun!" She winked at Kati.
Kati blushed nervously, getting into the train with the boy she'd been talking to for so long. Teal waved the end of an earpiece in Kati's direction. Kati giggled and plugged it into her phone. New Flesh by Current Joys flows through the two excited teenagers, Teal recognizing the song immediately.
The train jerked forward abruptly, Kati falling into Teal's arms. She giggled and tucked a strand of loose hair behind her ear. Teal blushed but didn't let go.
I don't know what it is about you, but I feel like I've known you forever.

"Oh, my god, how are you so good at ice skating?! I thought I'D be the one holding your hand. KATI, come back here, I literally cannot skate!" Kati laughed aloud, gripping on to Teal's ice-cold hands.
"Come on, redhead. I'll teach you." 4EVER by Clario blasted through their earpieces. She grinned at the pink-cheeked ginger holding her hand as if his life depended on it. "Don't worry, Tee, I won't let you fall."
♠︎
Kati glanced over to her right at the boy, hoping he wouldn't see her crying.
"Kati, are you crying because they broke up?" Kati sniffed, the darkness of the theater making it seem like they were the only two people in the world.
"Y-yeah... Why didn't he love her?!" Teal laughed, wrapping his arms around her. She felt his head resting against her neck, nuzzling into her. She smiled and wiped her eyes.
♦︎
"C'mere, Kats, you've got a little bit of ice cream on your nose," Teal smirked at the adorable figure in front of him, holding an ice cream cone.
"Oh my gosh, seriously? Help me get it off?" Teal wiped it away, laughing. "Cotton candy?"
Kati nodded, biting out of his candy cloud. She scanned the area, seeing all the game booths. She looked back up at Teal. "Win me one of those and you get a kiss."
♣︎
"These games are literally so rigged..." Teal glared angrily at the cans he was supposed to knock over to win the prize. He knocked down 3.
Kati giggled. "Let me try?" Teal passed her the ball. She knocked down 5.
"Shit."
Teal laughed. "Damn, if I let you take my turn, we might've won the prize."
"You wanna go on the rides?"
"Can we try a little more? I really wanna get that kiss." He laughed.
Kati looked at the redhead. He smiled at her. In one swift motion, Kati had pulled on his shirt and pressed her lips against his.
