Although you were afraid to, you eventually drifted off to sleep again in Josh's warm, safe arms. And that's where you will be when you wake up to his voice again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You hear the soft melody coming from him once more, and since you no longer have a pounding headache, you realize how beautiful it actually is. It's soothing, calming, and intriguing all at once. You don't want to open your eyes in fear of scaring him off. So you just sit and listen.
"If I keep moving, they won't know"
So beautiful. So unique. So...
"I'll morph to someone else"
You finally peak open your eyes a little to get a glance at him. He isn't facing you at the moment so he doesn't seem to notice you.
"What they throw at me's too slow"
He's looking outside of the open tent, at the people walking around in the drizzle of rain. You could see his soft pink lips moving as the tune escaped over them. Flowing out like a river.
"I'll morph to someone else"
His silky brown hair was messy as if he hadn't bothered to touch it for days. His expression is soft. Almost like he is smiling a little. His big eyes were searching around lazy, not as if he was looking for something specific. Just like he was looking to look.
"I'm just a ghost"
He turned back towards you and you snapped your eyes shut. Too late.
"Hey," he whispers to you. You open your eyes once more and look into his eyes. They looked so bright, even though they were dark brown. He looked happy for some reason, but you could also pick up that he seemed worried.
"Hi Tyler," you whisper back, trying not to wake Josh. Tyler smiles at you softly and puts his hand on top of yours, which was laying against the small cot. His thumb traced around your hand lightly in numerous ways. You decided it was okay to give Tyler a small smile back. He seemed pleased by your smile, but suddenly his face changes. It drops from a pleasant smile to a gloomy appearance.
"We need to talk," he says in a serious tone.
"We are talking," you respond with a mischievous smile.
"No, seriously. We need to talk. Away from people. Alone." The expression he was giving you kind of frightened you because you knew he was being serious.
"Can we do it in a little bit? There is a man child sleeping with me and I can neither physically nor mentally wake him up."
"I would like to do it as soon as possible," Tyler responded coldly, and then he got up from his seated passion and walked out of the tent. What does he need to talk about that's so important that he would be willing to wake up Josh? It just doesn't make sense.
After a while you fall back asleep, but not for long. Soon enough Josh is rousing and without meaning to, he wakes you up as well.
"Hey, sorry I woke you up," Josh says looking at you with slightly sad eyes.
"Don't be sorry. I was awake a little bit ago and needed to get up anyway," you say sitting up on the squeaky cot. You look outside the slightly open tent flap and see sunshine coming through. It makes you want to run outside, but in your physical state, the only things that happen are you getting dizzy and Josh "woah-ing" you and bringing you back to the makeshift bed. "I'm fine, just let me go," you say a little to harshly, causing Josh to flinch, but you really want to get out of here.
"I don't know if you-"
"I can do it!" Josh looks like a hurt little puppy. He wants to be able to help you, but you don't want his help. You want to do this on your own. You slowly start to stand up again and feel the rush come at you again but you bear through it. You let go of the cot and start your walk towards the sunlight. Oh, the sunlight. It feels like you haven't seen it in ages. Oh what a women like you would do for some Vitamin D.
Finally, you burst through the tent, and quickly shield your eyes to the blinding light. How weird that something so beautiful can be so painful. As your eyes started to adjust to the harsh beams, you feel the UV rays of the sun warm up your freezing skin. It feels so good. In this exact moment, you hear birds chirping, feel a slight breeze blowing. You hear kids laughing and playing. You hear dogs barking, you hear people chatting happily. You feel grass between your toes and you see bugs flying around you and around the blooming flowers. You are happy. You let this feeling drip all over you. From the roots of your hair all the way down to your bare toes. It soaked in like water to a sponge until you felt it in your core. You are HAPPY! You take one more deep breath of the cool breeze before you let any thoughts register in your mind.
Now to find Tyler.
