3: The Engagement

"Pacify her, she's getting on my nerves"

"FINALLY!"

Taehyungs mother eyes lit up when she laid her eyes on Jisoo. Her Son, on the other hand, turned pale. His mother pushed him aside to help Jisoo off of the floor. Jisoo watched her as she scanned her whole face. "I must say, you are really pretty." Jisoo lets out a forced laugh as she dismisses the compliment. The older woman sighs as she gently taps on Jisoo's shoulders and looks deep into her eyes, this kind of makes Jisoo uncomfortable so she tries to avert her eyes and ends up staring at Taehyung.

He wanted to ground to swallow him whole. He never thought his small lie would catch up to him this quickly. He licks his lips, he does this when he is nervous, Jisoo watched as he fiddled with his rings. "I have waited so long to meet you." Taehyungs mother continues.

Jisoo frowns in confusion, wanting to avoid the awkwardness and retrieve her phone. "Excuse me, Ma'am but I think you have me-" she was interrupted by the mother shaking her head. "Don't call me Ma'am. Thats too formal. Since you will be marrying my Son—" Jisoo felt as if everything went into slow motion. She stares at Taehyung's panicked face as the words "marrying" and "engagement" fly around her.

Taehyung pulls Jisoo away from his Mother. "Taehyung!" She scolds him as she watched her son drag away Jisoo into another room. "Sorry!" He yells behind his shoulder while slamming the door behind him.

He lets Jisoo go but she is completely frozen. "Did she just say..." Taehyung dismisses her he thought maybe if he convinced her that it was all a dream she would forget about it tomorrow. "—but she said it." Jisoo's voice rising a bit, Taehyung being her boss left her mind for a bit as she balls her hands into a fist and his his arm with it, repeatedly. "Ah! Ah! Stop." He grabs her wrist protecting himself from her, she was freakishly strong. "Why am I being married off without even knowing!" Jisoo was visibly upset.

"Hush," He tries to have her speak softer. "You weren't supposed to know." Jisoo scoffs. "Oh? I was not supposed to know? When were you planning to tell me? When I give birth to our first Child!"

Taehyung anger rises as well,"We would have not gotten married at all. I lied to my Mother so that she would have left me alone about marriage."

His statement stuns Jisoo. "I was going to lie for a little bit so I can still be seen as a potential heir. I panicked and your name is the first thing that popped in my head!"

They both stopped talking and calmed down a bit. Jisoo sighs and rubs the back of her neck. "What am I supposed to tell your Mother now?" Although she is very upset that he used her in this lie but she she left bad for him. He was wealthy but still worked from the bottom prove himself to his family but obviously that was not enough.

Taehyung stares at her before calming saying,"Play along?" She lets out a small laugh before turning away. "Wait—" She turns around and faces him once more. "I will give you a raise." Her face remains emotionless. "I will..." He stops while thinking." I will give you my position once I leave. Your portfolio is great and you are qualified so it wont seem suspicious if I do." Taehyungs silently pleads with her.

Taehyungs Mother watched the door fly open as Jisoo emerged from the room with a bright smile and her eyes lit up. "Eomma!" She held her arms out and she gladly accepted the embrace from Jisoo. "I'm so sorry. I am really tired so I took awhile to remember your face. Please forgive me?" Jisoo made her voice a pitch higher and added a bit of cuteness in her actions. The older woman brushes it off. "Of course." She says as she returns a smile. Taehyung slowly walked out of the room, surprised that his mother did not question their behavior.

"I left my phone in Taehyung's office. You would not mind if I fetch it and then go home?" Taehyung stares at the back of Jisoo's head as he heard her say his name so casually.

"Yes. Yes. Fetch your phone and Taehyung will drop you off at home." She tries to deny the lift home but the woman was adamant. Taehyung reluctantly agrees so that this night would end faster. "Adeul, we will continue our conversation another time." He nods in agreement before following Jisoo into his office.

The pair bid farewell before leaving the building. The car ride of quiet, they did not face each other. Taehyung stopped infront of Jisoo's apartment building. "You were over-acting." Taehyung insults her.

Jisoo lets the seatbelt go and climbs out of the car, before closing the door she says,"MY OVER-ACTING JUST SAVED YOUR ASS SO BE GRATEFUL."
