The memories of last night filled my head with an empty void.
"Belle, you're going to be late for school! Mom's waiting," Kacin yelled from outside of the bathroom. I quickly put on my makeup and straightened the last piece of hair. I grabbed my bag and ran downstairs so Melissa wouldn't yell at me. Melissa is my step-mother and sometimes I call her mom, sometimes I call her Melissa; it just depends on my mood.
"Sorry Melissa," I said hopping into the car.
"Now I'm going to be late!" Kacin complained.
Melissa drove like crazy to get to Kacin's school and then dropped me off last. I spotted Harry sitting on a bench near the steps. "Hey, Harry," I called out to him. He turned to me and waved.
"Hey, what happened between you and Zayn last night?"
"He gave me his jacket because he didn't want to leave me alone but he had to get home."
"That's amazing," Harry laughed. The bell signaling school to start rang and Harry and I walked to Tennis together. Zayn was no where to be found but I didn't want to text him because I didn't want to seem desperate or clingy. I have heard he's really clingy from Kayla but she overexaggerates a lot.
I went through almost the whole day without seeing Zayn, it was hard because I honestly had nothing to look forward to. That may seem sad, but school was very easy to me. I had all A's and on every test I took, I had a really high score.
Harry's mom took us home and the day was very uneventful. "I think you should text Zayn," Harry said just as I got out of his car. "Thank you Anne, and I might," I shrugged.
I constantly come home to an empty house. Melissa is a pediatrician and she sometimes needs me to go to the hospital to watch kids for her. Kacin is always at his friends house or at the hospital with Melissa. I found a note on the refrigerator to come to the hospital after I had a snack.
I decided not to text Zayn because I was afraid that maybe he wouldn't answer. It was still very chilly outside since we were in downtown Seattle. I put on a "Girls Bite Back" t-shirt, with Zayn's leather jacket, black skinny jeans, and black vans.
For a snack I had some frozen mangos and then I walked to the hospital since it was only about 2 blocks from where we lived. I got there and went to her office to find her typing rapidly on her computer.
I knocked and she motioned me to come inside. "Melissa, what did you need?" I asked sitting down in her guest chairs.
"I appreciate you, Belle. I really do, and I know you do this way too often and you save my ass a lot," Melissa says in between typing. "I need you to babysit five children in the west wing, do you think you could do that?" I nodded at her and went to the west wing.
They have some staff members that babysit sometimes, but it's not an actual duty. Babysitting is very easy, especially if they are little toddlers. I just sit down, do some homework and take care of them. Children voice their opinion, while most toddlers can't speak yet.
"Hey, Belle," Melissa said peeking in. "There will be a boy about your age coming as well. Trisha's son, I think." I didn't even know who Trisha was but I nodded my head at her and went back to doing my Geometry homework.
About a few minutes later, Zayn's voice rang in my head, and I thought I was dreaming. "Belle?"
"Zayn?" I looked up and saw him staring at me.
"Wait, you're Melissa's daughter?"
"Step-daughter, yes," I smiled at him and got up from where I was sitting with one of the kids.
"Oh. How was your day?" He asked after hugging me a sitting down next to my homework.
"It was pretty boring, how was yours?"
"Yeah, since I just decided to stay home it was too." He smiled at me.
His smile could actually end wars and cure cancer. Possibly my favorite book of all time was Looking For Alaska by John Green. And he was my favorite author.
Zayn and I just started asking random questions about each other and I learned a lot about him. Before I knew it, it was time to go and I offered Zayn's jacket back but he said it looked really good on me with the outfit I was wearing and that I could give it back at any other time.
The next day was possibly the best day that has ever happened in my entire life.
"I really think that you and Zayn would be adorable," Kayla smiled. I just casually laughed it off and acted like I had no idea why she was thinking that.
"I think they would too," Harry said and winked at me across the lunch table.
The amount of stares that Kayla received from Zayn's friends was unrealistic. I am not even joking when I say that they kept looking back at her probably 100 times in 10 minutes. In Kayla's mind she was too good for Zayn, when in reality Zayn was too good for her.
I honestly cannot fathom why a boy would want to pass up the opportunity to date Kayla. I make her out to be some evil witch, but she is honestly the sweetest girl ever, when she is not around a ton of boys. She can sometimes act a bit fake, but other than that, she is so sweet.
"Ready for ASL?" Kayla laughed and I nodded. Zayn came up to her and hugged her, as always. I admired him from up close. He was next to me and I could literally smell that oh-so Heavenly scent. He walked both of us to class, mainly Kayla and she went to the bathroom, which left Zayn and I alone in the hallway for a moment.
"What class do you have next?" Zayn asked curiously.
"Chemistry," I replied and he smiled.
"I have Physics! I'll walk you if you want?" He offered kindly. I nodded and he told me to text him in my current class and he waved goodbye.
"Were you just talking to Zayn?" Kayla asked as I walked into ASL.
"Yes."
"What were you two talking about?" She raised her eyebrow. This is what I was talking about, she always needs to get in people's business.
"Nothing, he was just asking what class I had next."
ASL went by really quick for it being our longest class and I met Zayn out in the hallway.
"Bye love, I'll see you after school," Kayla waved to me.
"So how was your day?" Zayn asked when we walked up the stairs.
"It was pretty good, how was yours?" I asked as we rounded near my classroom.
"Good," he smiled. When I stopped at my class, he turned around and smiled at me and hugged me. Like I said previously, the aroma of his cologne was so over-bearing, I just wanted to walk to his house and take his cologne just so I would smell as divine as he did in that moment.
