"Another babysitting job, are you serious?" (Y/N) hissed into the phone as she walked into school.

"What? They're easy and I pay you well. You deserve a break sometimes, kid." The person on the other line said dismissively.

"I'd rather do another hit than hover over some entitled trust fund baby."

"It's this or nothing, (L/N)." The voice sighed.

(Y/N)'s jaw clenched and instead of replying she hung up and shoved her phone back into her pocket. She huffed and made her way to her classroom.

"Good morning (Y/N)!" Daniel chirped when she walked in.

She only managed to respond with a grimace before practically throwing herself into her seat and resting her head on her crossed arms.

Zack and Daniel both turned around in their seats to look at her. While Daniel was concerned, Zack was thoroughly amused.

"Rough night?" Zack asked, trying so hard not to laugh that his face was turning red. Unfortunately, he couldn't hold back his cackles when he heard the muffled groan she gave in response.

"Hey, she's having a tough time! Give her a break..." Daniel scolded, nudging Zack's elbow, but that only made him fall out of his seat.

"I'm glad my suffering is entertaining to you." (Y/N) said, her voice still muffled by her arms. Zack wheezed.

"Everybody quiet, we have a new student today." The teacher announced, gaining the attention of the class. Daniel heard a dull thud from behind him, making him jump in his seat. He turned around to see (Y/N) still hiding her face in her arms, her hair slightly messier than it was before.

'Was that her head?!'

"Please treat her-"

The boys in the class perked up at the pronouns. A new girl?!

"Kindly. Please welcome Crystal Choi." The teacher finished, and a short, chubby girl with glasses walked into the class.

The excitement immediately died down, causing Crystal to sigh as she observed the reaction of her new class.

There are the cool boys and girls that barely acknowledge their existence (she chose to ignore Daniel, who was staring), the outcasts the welcome her, and those who mock and embarrass her.

'But there's someone else... where is she?'

Crystal scanned the classroom before her eyes landed on a familiar figure.

'Well, not familiar to her. She doesn't know who I am like this, which is nice, I guess. She won't think I'm shallow because I'm pretty.'

Little does she know that (Y/N) didn't think that Crystal was shallow because her other body was pretty. She thought Crystal's other body was shallow because of how she treated Daniel.

Anyways,

"(Y/N)?" Crystal said quietly, lightly tapping the girl's shoulder to get her attention.

'Is she sleeping?'

"Hm?" She hummed, sitting up straight and looking down at Crystal. She straightened up when she fully processed that this was her newest 'job'.

"Oh, hi. I'm (Y/N)." She said stiffly.

"I know." Crystal replied.

"Oh."

The two awkwardly stared at each other for a moment, but (Y/N) gaze didn't falter. This continued until Crystal grew visibly uncomfortable and looked away with a cough.

"You can just sit at that desk right there." (Y/N) instructed, pointing to the empty desk across the aisle from her.

"Does anybody sit there?" Crystal asked, 'Wasn't somebody just sitting here? I think they went to the bathroom.

"You do now."

"But there's a backpack right there..."

"Just push it off. If anybody gives you a problem, let me know." She explained with a shrug before going back into the napping position that she was in when Crystal first came over.

"Okay..."

If I can't be friends with her in my other body, I want to at least try in this one.

"Do the teachers here give a lot of homework?" She asked, trying to keep the conversation going.

(Y/N) sighed and sat up, finally accepting the fact that she couldn't avoid the person she had been hired to basically hang out with. And... she didn't really seem that bad.

She turned to face Crystal and propped up her head with her hand, slightly squishing her cheek.

"To be honest, I wouldn't know. I don't really-"

"(Y/N)!" A new voice interrupted, both girls turned to face Daniel. Crystal just barely suppressed a scowl.

"Who's your new friend?" Daniel asked.

"Were you not listening when she was introduced to the class?" (Y/N) teased.

'There goes my first impression.' Daniel thought, embarrassed. His hand went to rest on the back of his neck.

"I- umm..."

"That's Daniel. He transferred here a few weeks ago." (Y/N) introduced him, not bothering to hide the fact that she was amused by his lack of social skills.

"Yeah, we live in the same area! Nice to meet you..." He peaked at (Y/N) and saw her mouth the word 'Crystal' at him. "Crystal." He finished and gave the new girl a stunning smile.

I hate handsome guys.

(Y/N)'s playful mood dropped when she saw the forced smile that Crystal gave Daniel.

"Yeah, thanks." She said carefully, making sure she wouldn't set anybody off. 'I've gotta be careful, I don't need rumors already spreading.'

I've been humiliated by fake kindness disguised as compassion many times.

'That's part of why I want to be friends with (Y/N). If she doesn't like me, she'll make sure I know. She won't be fake about it.'

Crystal glanced at (Y/N), who seemed to have no problem with Daniel's presence.

'If (Y/N) likes him I guess he could be tolerable... but girls like me still have to be careful.'
--------------------------
After school, (Y/N) had offered Crystal a ride home.

'She's probably asking out of obligation... I don't want to burden her too much...'

"I'm good! I wanted to visit a friend on my way home." Crystal lies easily, smiling up at (Y/N) as she walked through the door that the other girl was holding open for her.

"Are you sure?"

"Positive," Crystal assured.

"Okay. I'll see you later then." (Y/N) said, walking off with a wave.

"See ya."
