Run.
Feet bare and battered from the forest floor, she ran. White nightgown, torn and dirty, barely covering her as it tore amongst the branches and bushes in the dark night, she ran. Blind from the moonless sky, desperate and searching for a place where she could be safe enough to rest, she ran. She didn't know what she was running from, or where she could have been possibly running to. She didn't even know where she was, who she was, other than her name.
Cecily. She repeated the name over and over in her head, only because it could remind her to keep going.
'Go, Cecily.'
'Get to safety, Cecily.'
'Cecily...run!'
Her lungs burned in her chest, her legs felt like fire and needles beneath the stinging pain of the scrapes and bruises she had earned in her sightless trek. She needed to rest, to catch her breath and take in her surroundings, hopefully gain some sense of direction or attempt to remember where she might be running to...or from. But she couldn't stop, not yet. They were still behind her, seeking to find her and hurt her or steal her away. She didn't know who they were, but they were there.
She could feel them.
So she ran, as fast as her aching feet could carry her. As far away from wherever she was as she could get. After several long, torturous minutes, the feeling of being chased ebbed. She slowed, listening, feeling to make sure she wasn't being followed. Relief and happiness flooded her chest...she was free. Looking behind her to be sure, her foot caught in a root that was sticking out of the ground in front of her. With a pitiful yelp, she flew forward and cracked her head directly onto the trunk of a tree.
Touching her head, Cecily saw blood on her hands before falling into the black depths of unconsciousness.

Cecily stirred, the feeling of eyes on her bringing her out of exhausted sleep. She was no longer on the damp forest floor where she had fallen, but rather in a warm cave that nature had carved into the side of a hill. She felt like she should know that cave, or at least the hill, but her aching head kept getting in the way of further delving into her own thoughts. Her eyes adjusted to the inky dark of the dwelling, allowing her to see very little of the moss and pebbles around her. Still attempting to get oriented, her eyes moved around in search of anything that could help her tell up from down...until they found a sight that made here blood freeze.
Two eyes.
Glowing in luminous gold, two eyes stared at her from the depths of the darkness, keen, intelligent, and fixated directly on her. She made to get up, a sharp pain ringing through her head at the sudden movement, and froze in place as she heard a low growl come from the direction of the eyes. Sitting back down, the growling slowed. She made another attempt, only to have the growl start again, this time closer as the eyes moved nearer to her. Her heart rate jumped, fear that this is what she was running from screaming painfully in her mind.
'Cecily, run!'
She tried to crouch, but her head was aching to the point of blinding her, and she instead turned to the side and emptied her stomach onto the ground. Appalled, she scooted away from the mess, the glowing eyes ever nearer as the growl warned her of its presence. Her breaths were coming too fast, too short, her head spinning in dizziness. She was gulping for oxygen, her fear atrophying her muscles and ability to reason.
As she fell back down, the growling stopped, turning into a quiet canine whine. She questioned the change, but only for a second before sweet darkness swallowed her consciousness again.
