Vortara seemed to wither as the eight pairs of eyes watched her. Jimin had brought tea, and all of them sat comfortably, but it was clear she wouldn't be leaving the house until she was given express permission. She cleared her throat nervously, glancing once at Cecily, who was seated squarely in Taehyung's lap while Namjoon held her hand.
"So...a prophecy?" Jimin finally broke the silence, obviously annoyed that Vortara wasn't speaking up.
"Y-yes," she mumbled, looking at her fingers holding a ceramic mug. "All witches know of it, since it potentially affects us." She sighed, knowing she wouldn't be able to leave until she said it out loud, "When the Seven marry the Northern Star, they will find the golden tree. If the heart is true, the skies will open, and there their battle be. Should they lose, the earth will bruise, with terror born to see. Should they win, new life begins, and magic return to thee."
"Well what the fuck does that mean?" Jin threw his hands up, "And in prose? Come on!"
"How do you even know it's about us?" Namjoon asked as well.
Vortara rolled her eyes, unable to hide her frustration, "Well, for starters, does anyone know which element represents north?" She looked at them, rolling her eyes again, "It's earth. Nature, fertility, abundance. Which, I would wager, means that an Epoch of Nature would be the very avatar." She checked her attitude, calming down a bit, "And if any of you had seen what I just saw...your threads of fate entwined...your auras melding into one....You would know what I'm saying is right. You would just...know."
"But it says something about a battle?" Jeongguk sat up straighter, his eyes round, "And IF we win? Not that we will?"
"According to all I've ever heard," Vortara explained, "And I admit I wasn't the most scholarly, we witches assume that it means that there will be a battle. Either between sorcerers of good and evil, or between witches and sorcerers." She put her hands out in defeat, "But the poem is all we've had to go off of, passed down for hundreds of years." She took a quick sip of her tea, "And we think it will determine whether or not we keep our gifts, depending on the outcome."
"That's pretty...vague," Cecily let out. "But what if I don't want to battle?"
"I don't know, Mistress," Vortara answered, keeping her tone respectful, "But I can say that I've never heard of someone denying their fate and having it go well for them."
"Well, there is a silver lining," Namjoon raised Cecily's hand and kissed her knuckles, looking her in the eyes with a grin.
Cecily blushed, "That part did sound pretty decent," she giggled quietly.
Vortara took the opportunity to stand up, "Well, if that's all. I'd like to leave before you two start sucking face."
Namjoon waved her off, "Don't go far," he warned, his eyes never leaving the girl in front of him, "If we call, you answer. If you leave, we'll find you."
"Fine," Vortara rolled her eyes, collecting herself again quickly, "If I should be of service, Mistress, just ask. I have much to make up for."
Everyone ignored the witch as she scuttled out of the house, not hearing her relieved sigh after she closed the door. Their minds were too full of the prophecy, the revelation of Cecily's true self, and the idea of sealing their fates with her. Hoseok was the first to break the silence, jumping up with a wide smile on his face.
"We almost forgot!" he clapped his hands excitedly, "We got a bunch of great stuff today!"
"You think all stuff is great," laughed Jimin.
Yoongi laughed as well, "He does. But we got a real haul. Between the herbs and veggies we were able to trade, and the incredible charm of Yours Truly, we cashed out big."
