How could brothers pull off hiding a relationship for six years and then come out to their parents as gay for each other?

Marriage.

It went something like this.

America and Canada were on a walk on the beach with Britain, France, and their two younger siblings Australia and New Zealand.

"Hey Canada," America whispered as they were just in front of the rest of their family.

"Yes?" Canada responded quietly.

America stopped them, making the rest of their family stop as well.

"What is all this fuss about?" Britain asked impatiently.

America turned to Canada and held his hands, "You know I love you a lot, right, brother?"

Canada smiled and nodded, "I love you, too, Meri."

America got down on one knee, reaching into his pocket. "Canada... These last six years together has been amazing. And the years before that. Every day I long to see your smile. I love you and I wanted to seal that promise..."

He took out a velvety box and held it up. "Will you de me the honour and marry me?" America asked, opening the box. Inside sat a diamond ring with a gold gem in the middle."

Canada's eyes widened and he covered his mouth, his breath knocked out of him. He blinked away his tears and lunged to America, "YES! OUI! CENT MILLE FOIS! (YES! ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND TIMES!)"

America smiled happily and slipped the ring onto Canada's finger. Canada smiled and kissed America, letting tears fall.

Britain and France watched their two sons happily, France wiping away a few stray tears. They could tell they loved each other very much.

They wanted their sons to be happy.
