"So how about this place?" Link ask me as we sit at the dinner table with my laptop looking at different flower shops. Dad is sitting on the other end of the table, going through his address book, figuring out who we need to call. I've been trying to write down a todo list as I sit beside Link who's looking up the different shops in town. He's very distracting though, even if he doesn't do anything special. My body records every move he does as he runs his hand through his hair or scratch his chin. We haven't been alone since the kiss and the tension is thick even though I think we give a good performance in front of my dad.
I look over at the screen, coming a little closer toward Link.
"It looks good, but how expensive is it?" I ask, sitting close enough to feel the scent of him and I lick my lips at the extra saliva that collects in my mouth. God he smells good.
We get interrupted by my phone. I pick it up and look at the screen blinking with Lea all over it. Shit! I forgot to call her last night.
"I need to take this. Keep looking." I say as I stand up and walk up the stairs. I walk into my room, securely closing my door and walking as far into the room as I possibly can and sit down at the desk chair. "Hello?" I answer the phone quietly.
"Hey, what the hell? You never called!" Lea whines on the other end. "I've been worried about you!"
"I'm so, so sorry! I totally forgot, there has happened so much and I have too much to tell you." I apologize. I know her, and drama and secrets are her thing, so she can't be too angry if I have something she wants to know.
"What is it?" She sounds intrigued.
"Well..." I hesitate, how should I say this? There are just one way. "Link is here." I whisper.
"Who?" She ask confused and I feel a little shocked that she doesn't get it.
"Link. As in Link Taylor, the football player from Manchester United." I clarify, my voice thick with irony. I hear her intake of breath.
"Whaaat? Why is he there?" She shouts.
"Shh! I don't know, he was just there in the seat next to me as I got on the plane." I say, still whispering.
"I should have guessed. Why are you whispering?" She ask confused but has calmed down.
"He doesn't want anyone to know that he's here, so I'm making sure he doesn't know I tell you. Hey! What do you mean you should have guessed?" I ask frowning. What did she mean by that?
"Well, I had some problem when I was booking your flight. There was a problem with my card...and well, Link came to the rescue, taking over everything and booked your flight." She say and sound kind of uncertain at how I would react to the fact. "I did wonder why he left so soon afterwards, but didn't really care enough to question it." She add sounding thoughtful.
"That explains the first class. I wondered what hit your head when you booked me in first class." I mumble, that should have been my first clue.
"So, why is he there?" She wonders and I feel as blank as I've done the last day.
"I have no idea. He say he thought I needed someone here for me." I shrug even though she can't see me.
"Oh, wow. He really likes you." Lea say and I bite the inside of my lip.
"I don't know. He's been very different since we got here, but I don't know." I scrape some old paint of the desk with my fingernails.
"What do you mean by different?" I sigh.
"I don't know. Nice-ish? Helpful." I shrug again.
"Well that's nice I guess?" She say and I shake my head. I don't know about that.
