Ever since Commander Tran got the green light from the Admiralty a large room was reserved for research where a large number of people joined and dedicated their time to research. A week has passed since the research lab was established and the commander was jumping from office to lab constantly, checking up and helping out when he could.
"If anything, he's certainly more active than before." Yorktown says as she and the others sit around in the common room and watch the commander tirelessly run between rooms every hour or so with a very exhausted Dido attempting to closely tail him.
"Master... Please... Can you at least take some time to just sit down?" Dido asks between breaths.
"You don't have to accompany me all the time." Commander Tran replies, too absorbed in work and research to even look Dido in the eye.
"Wha- master please!" Dido pleads, but it falls on deaf ears as Commander Tran continues on. "Don't abandon me like this!"
"I would sit down if I were you." Pennsylvania says. "You look ready to pass out." And with that the maid joins the girls as she flops onto the couch.
"I'm worried about the commander." Arizona says. "I've only ever seen him in those two rooms, and he sometimes isn't in his quarters when we go to wake him up because he's already up and going."
"He couldn't possibly be doing night work though." Saratoga mumbles. "If that were the case at least one of us would have heard him."
"At least that's not the case." Enterprise says before she looks outside to see a small fleet of Sakura Empire and Ironblood ships. "Well that's just great... Hey commander! We have company!"
"We do?" Commander Tran asks as he walks over to see the enemy just outside. "Looks like a fairly small fleet. I trust that you girls can knock them out." And with that the girls move out while the commander continues constantly working. Meanwhile with the girls...
"Well at least he has his judgement. This shouldn't be too hard to clear out." Hornet chuckles. "And I just got a fresh batch of bombers! Let's finish this in a jiffy!" She shouts as she launches a squadron of B-25 bombers, and the resulting carpet bombing manages to sink all of the Sakura Empire ships in one fell swoop.
"And now to take care of those Ironblood ships." Enterprise says as she readies her bow and aims directly above her head before she fires many arrows at once. They quickly transform into dive bombers that charge straight down at the Ironblood ships before releasing their payload, and as soon as the girls had spotted the enemy fleets they were destroyed before they could even get a chance to fire. "And that deals with them!"
"Hmm... Don't you think that was a little TOO easy though?" Yorktown asks. "There could be more ships waiting for the right moment." A few minutes pass after Yorktown states that fact, but much to her surprise, no reinforcements arrive whatsoever. "That's odd..."
"Well, I guess they've scaled back a little." Pennsylvania mumbles. "Let's just head back and hope that they won't suddenly ambush us as soon as we turn around." She says as the group heads back to base where the commander is still working like he was before.
"I don't know how he's doing it, but he is!" Dido says, having given up on trying to follow him as she continues to rest on the couch. "You girls know anything that we maids don't about him?"
"I've got no clue." Hornet says. "Sorry."
