UNEDITED BECAUSE I DON’T HAVE THE TIME TO ANALYSE IT COMPLETELY, SO IF THERE ARE ANY MISTAKES I SINCERELY APOLOGISE IN ADVANCE.

But I hope you enjoy the chapter; I know I haven’t updated in a long while. Busy, busy busy.

Katherine’s POV

James wakes up several minutes later with a crowd of people surrounding him, including me. His head was rested against my lap and stroked his hair as Tristan tried to wake him up. It took a bit of time but eventually James came round and looked me directly in the eyes as he woke. “Hey mister. You need to stop doing this, or else you’re going to give me a heart attack.” I whisper to him with a smile.

“Right. Sorry.” He mutters, before trying to sit up. Tristan and Joe help him to his feet, but he stumbles and falls into Joe’s side. “Jesus Christ!” He curses under his breath. Joe and Tristan exchange looks with me as they try to keep James balanced, their faces baring horror and worry, especially as James pushes them both away so he could stand on his own. I quickly move to catch him as he stumbles again, and as he tries to push me away too, I hold him closer and scowl at him.

“James, you’re being stubborn. Stop it, right now.” I snap at him, getting quite fed up with the rejection and refusal to admit he has a problem. Bradley didn’t say much about James’ blackouts, only that James doesn’t talk about them and tries to act like they don’t happen, and snapping at people when they suggest him go to seek help. He looks back at me, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “I’m not letting you go until you explain to me what’s going on. This isn’t normal James and it needs to stop.”

He grunts and takes my hand in his. “Fine. We need to talk anyway.” He turns to the boys and tells them that he’ll see them later, before dragging me to the dressing room to grab our things. He shrugs his coat on, his phone and keys in his pocket and turns to me whilst I do the same. Once I’d got myself ready he takes my hand again and leads me to his car, saying nothing. I wasn’t saying anything either; it didn’t seem like the time, so I sat in silence as he drove. Looking outside at our surroundings, I recognise immediately where he was taking us.

The car comes to a halt and the gates to the park come into view. James shuts off the engine and gets out of the car, waiting for me to do the same. He locks the car as soon as I shut the door and motions for me to follow him; which I do hesitantly. The silence was gnawing away at me and I was starting to feel a little on edge.

We take a seat on the exact bench we sat on when I told him about my brother’s death. It was easier to say now, now I’d spoken about it. It was the first time I’d actually said what happened since I spoke to the police about a year ago. I never wanted to talk about it again. It always got me worked up and I hate the feeling of getting worked up.

I sit next to him patiently, waiting for him to say something but he doesn’t, so I do. “Tell me about Emily.” He turns his head sharply and looks at me incredulously. “I know about her, James, well I know of her. The rest is still quite unclear, but I know she died.” He looks angry then, his face screwed up and his breathing heavier.

I look away, not wanting to see anymore of how angry I’d made him. It scared me how much his mood had changed as soon as I mentioned her name. I wonder if that’s how I looked to people whenever they mention William’s name.
