Skylar and Spencer looked at the SUV and then back between each other

Skylar and Spencer looked at the SUV and then back between each other. They had agreed on using the BAU's car, but they seemingly weren't able to make a rational decision beyond that.

"My team never lets me drive," the doctor said out of the blue.

"Oh yeah?" Skylar asked. "I wonder why that is," — the words were dripping with sarcasm — "Okay, decision made," she said. "I'm driving!"

"Wait, I thought this was going to be a democratic decision?"

"This is America, get used to it."

Skylar started the car and they drove onto the freeway in a speed that only could've been illegal. Spencer grabbed his seat with one hand while the other was trying to close his seatbelt, and cried out. "You're going too fast!" He said.

"What are you talking about?" Skylar asked and gazed down at the clock. "I'm going 95 in a 100, that's not too fast. If anything, that's too slow." The little provocateur in her forced her to push down even more on the gas pedal. God, she was definitely going to miss teasing him once the team was back on their way to Quantico.

Spencer let out a little yelp. "The standard speed limit for freeways in the US is 70 miles per hour," he stated. "A 65 for other 4 lane divided highways, and 55 for all other highways."

She shrugged and said, "This is New York, baby, you just gotta learn to live with it."

"Oh luckily I don't have to, especially not if we're dead!"

Skylar began to laugh. "Did you just—" she raised her eyebrows at him, "did Doctor Spencer Reid just use sarcasm?"

But the young doctor just deadpan asked, "What makes you think I was being sarcastic?"

He couldn't keep the attitude up for long though, his lip twitched seconds into her staring right at him, and he broke out into a grin.

"You, my friend," Skylar said. "Are wittier than you look." The SUV made a harsh turn to the right, pushing them back in their seats.

Spencer blushed, shielding his head the second time to stop himself from hitting the door's plastic.

And so the girl began to wonder if he ever got told nice things by any of his team members. He was close to them, sure, but even someone like Spencer Reid needed someone to just listen to his little rants and make him stupid compliments once in a while.

She didn't doubt that the BAU complimented him, god no! Skylar just wondered if maybe, he sometimes needed more than that without having to actually say it. In the end, we all need someone, fully, wholeheartedly, and without judgment, every once in a while.

Thanks to Skylar's knowledge of the New Yorker traffic, they pulled up at their destination about 30 minutes later. Yes, they finished a 45-minute drive in 30 minutes; Spencer's head was spinning.
