[Brown]: J.R.R Tolkien wrote in his middle-earth love story: "Among the tales of sorrow and of ruin that came down to us from the darkness of those days there are yet some in which amid weeping there is joy and under the shadow of death light that endures."

6 months later

It took 6 long months until Aaron Hotchner contacted Skylar again, gratefully telling her that she made it through the application process.

6 long months of angry glances from her boss — he pathetically blamed her for reaching everything he'd never been able to — and the entirety of those 6 months, Skylar did nothing but wait.

To say she was incredibly relieved when the BAU's Unit Chief finally called her would've been an understatement; Skylar cried for an hour after receiving the news, feeling as if the weight of the world was finally lifted off her shoulders.

She could move on.

Leaving New York and starting anew had always been her dream. Of course, back in the military, she had been stationed in a completely different state; after growing up in the suburbs of New York, she had moved to Georgia for military training and, thanks to her father, got accepted into Fort Bennings.

The rest was history.

Skylar now lived in a comfortable apartment close to her new office — it was big enough to fit everything she needed in there and still have space for a few guests, but not too big to make her feel lost in her own home — she even had a small kitten that went by the given name 'Oreo'.

The young woman settled into her new home and finally felt content. She was comfortable and happy and enjoyed spending days on end at IKEA until she got tricked into feeling she could speak Swedish fluently, which she couldn't.

Today was her first day at Quantico. She was nervous. Spencer would remember her, that much was clear, but she didn't know about the others. She's never seen herself as someone making a great impact on other people's lives.
